Years ago I bought some fingerboard oil from a music shop that I think was linseed oil but I can't be totally sure after this long. It wasn't aimed specifically at guitarists as it was supposed to be for any instrument and came in a rather old fashioned looking tin but by god it was good stuff! Easily better than any lemon oil I've ever tried and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if only I could find some.

For my guitar care I firstly always wash my hands before playing it and after every playing I use Kyser string cleaner and lubricant. When the strings are changed I apply Kyser lemon oil and use a medium toothbrush to work it right into the frets. Once a year I also use Dunlop Fingerboard Deep Conditioner on it. At least twice a week I use Kyser Guitar Polish; sometimes every day depending on how much I've played it.

I like my guitars to be as pristine as possible, which I guess may be a bit anal of me as I seem to care for it more than any other guitarist I've ever met. Must be why new guitars that are 'road worn' have never appealed to me.

yes folks, WD-40 has no place anywhere near a guitar or amplifier - use it to stop your door hinges squeeking and be done with it.  Servisol is what you want for pots/switches etc... (lubricated for pots, non-lubed for switches/jacks).  I'm sure this is setting someone up for a smutty comment based around lubing nuts and such, any takers?

Didn't even realise I had been posting on here for so long, the threadurrection means I just worked out how long I've been playing for now, 5 and a half years!!! Doesn't feel that long!!!

I use dr stringfellow lemon oil on mhee fretboard every time I change the strings, also like using gibson pump polish for the guitar body (non fretboard) for an amazing shine

my grey microfibre cloth is the most important one though, it's essential
