I haven't had JTM45 GAS for a while now, but now it's back with a vengeance :lol:

I may have to look into 1 of these Ceriatone things, a JTM45 Re-issue or a Celtic Edana (great sounding clone of a JTM45).

Well it's here :D

Beeyoooooootiful clean tone at low volumes. Gorgeous. I've not had chance to wind up the volume a bit at home, but with an attenuator at the builder's place it sounded fantastic. I've tried running my ZVex Box of Rock through it and it sounds pretty good. It really needs to be wound up to a certain level though for all the syrupy goodness to really shine.

I can't believe it's a month to my next gig and no rehearsals inbetween :(

btw, if you should happen to have a 'booster' type pedal (as I know you do) then try it into the normal channel and prepare for a serious rawk tone.

I've seen Martamp amps on ebay before didn't know you were buying it off him Dave. I think He was selling an 18W plexi copy for about £250 I wish I had snatched it up then!

Yeah, he builds 18w and 36w clones. With and without tweaks. He also has a 10w combo he builds. He's going to lend me his 36w to try sometime.

My main gigging Laney Klipp is currently with him to be converted to Marshall Super Bass spec.

His work is of high quality, his prices are good, and he has a great no-nonsense approach. Top stuff in my book. And he's local :)

I forgot to say - the clarity of notes on this amp is superb. Great note separation rather than the buzzy mush you get on a lot of other amps.

A JTM-45 won't have enough gain for you Tom. They're more of a blueser's amp with a sweeter tone. If you want EVH levels of gain and grit then a 36w clone would be a good lower powered option. Most people prefer that Super Lead 100 "Plexi" tone for rock with loads of build-in gain and edgy bite.

Angus and Malcom have used a whole bunch of amps/speakers over the years:

JTM-45s
JTM-50s
JTM-45/100s
100w Super Leads
100w Super Basses
JMP-50s (with Master Volume)
JMP-100s (with Master Volumes)
200w Majors
Marshall clones eg Wizard amps
Greenbacks
G12Hs
Vintage 30s

Angus tends to use 100w heads for rhythmn and 50 watters for solos. The 45/50 watters sound a bit sweeter for lead lines.

My ears prefer a smoother, rounder tone with low gain and non-piercing treble. This is where the JTM-45 shines and it suits my heavy picking style(which adds gain itself).

This also explains why my Klipp is being converted to Super Bass (not Lead) spec...
