I've never dropped a guitar I'm very careful most of the times. The straps came off a few times but luckily I caught the guitar each time. But my worst guitar injury was done on my main guitar, the LP Studio. I left it in a fitted hardshell case and left it standing up against a wall, my drummer (why is it always drummers?) walks past beside it, catches the case on his cymbal bag and it went crashing down. The neck had a massive crack when I opened it just behind the nut. Fortunately it was repaired very well by the repairman at Musicground now you won't even notice it :D It's still my main guitar and I love it!

I may have told this one before, but for those who haven't read it...........

My friend plays guitar in the Zepp tribute Whole Lotta Led. When the Gibson les Paul custom shop Jimmy Page replicas were issued, he bought one for 8 grand odd, on finance too.  :(  Yes it fell off it's stand when they were loading up after a gig and the headstock snapped off! He got it repaired but it must have dive bombed in value, which is ironic in a way as your paying all that money for a damaged instrument in the first place.

If I was gigging an £8k guitar I'd make sure it was covered for accidental damage.  When I was last gigging (alot) we had all the band's gear insured and it was only around £125 for the whole year.  That covered us for the theft/damage in the lockup, on the way to a gig and at the gig.  Money well spent for piece of mind even though we never claimed for anything.

Yeah exactly so I now never throw my guitar even if it was in a case. It was the TKL Official Gibson case by the way.

yep, murphy's/sod's law says that if you're covered, odds are you won't need it, but if you aren't, you'll probably drop your guitar into a logging machine or something. worth it for the peace of mind, as you said. it's cheap at the price if it means you never have to claim...

Hmmm, when my SG was rebuilt and refinished, I had it for a whole 30 minutes before my nephew burst into the room and knocked it clean across the room.

It hit the edge of the hearth, and left  a huge gouge (& dent) on the front of the damn thing, it still annoys me now.

I never had the spare money to have it fixed and refinished again :(
Goodbye London !

I think they do have insurance as they are constantly gigging and have loads of tasty gear. He doesn't use the Jimmy replica now but still has lots of 3 grand re-issues.
I've given up trying to get him into BKP's now as well, i just don't think he realises how good they really are!!

I rode my Aria strat copy down a flight of stairs like a toboggan once.

That was fun.
