Pod mini / Boss Micro BR
« on: September 30, 2007, 01:40:00 PM »
Guys I fancy something which I can jam with through headphones.

I'm looking at the POD mini or the BOSS micro BR, anyone have any experience with either of these?

Thanks Ted

Try a Tascam GT II. You can put cd's in it and take the guitar out of the mix for some real jamming! It's got built in effects too. It's great for learning too as you can slow down solos without a drop in pitch.

Will do. I shall see if I can try these out in a store.

Elliot - do you know if the POD has rythm backing tracks? Or is it a purely effect driven unit?

I was looking into the micro BR, there are some good demos on the site

the thing that put me off was that for how much it cost, I would be far happier  to play my guitar acoustically.
-poor battery life (apparently)
-effects aren't that good (matter of opinion)
-taking the guitar signal out of audio uploaded to it isn't 100% efficient (for jamming along)

BUT I only know this from reviews, not my opinion: but enough to put me off

Follwing on from what Johnny said, there is a Tascam MP3 player that has a built in array of f/x and you plug in and play along to songs and apparently you can slow them down and muck about with them-can't remember the name or model number though a google search will surely yield the answers.

Don't know how much they are these days, but I have a collection of Korg Pandoras and they're great little units.  Built in metronome and simple rhythm tracks too.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM
