If you mix a G12T75 with a G12h does that balance things out - highs and lows?

Give the G12H30 a good 5 months of constant playing, these speakers take soo long to break in but once they're broken in.. Best speaker in the world.

I really dig the G12H30, Im using a V30 at the moment but it's deffinatly being considered for a swap over sometime soon.

You using the 70th Anniversary or the Heritage Version?

I would have loved to get the heritage, but went for the 70th anniversary for economic reasons (award session also doing them as a special at the moment :) )

Good to hear the speaker will get even better, but the amount I get to play will be years before I've broken it in :(

Mixing the 75 with the G12 would in my opinion work well, if you wanted a bit more midrange but being a cheaper speaker it doesn't convey the complexity  of notes as well.

I got a brand new heritage for sale, unused in Seconds Out if interested. Never been used, box opened to take pics for ebay. Chapest price on ebay by miles.

i fully agree :) i've played G12H30 heriatage, anniversary, G12H100, and G12Hs from the 70s... they all sounded different of course, but enoyed them all. theres definately a similar basic tone. i love the warmth and that grittyness in the midrange.

however I am thinking of putting a vintage 30 in my laney AOR30 and so if i ever (unlikely now!) needed to go full out i could spread it across both :)

I'd be very interested to to hear that as I've got an AOR30 lurking around. Have you upgraded the valves in it at all?
The JCM clips are great by the way, I like the bite of the g75 and the smoothness of the g12. Something in between would be perfect for me.

Ive just revalved the Laney, but with bog standard valves - I could do you a clip of the laney through the G12 if you wanted (in fact Ive just had a play with it through the g12 - sounds pretty darn good). What style do you like?! ;)

Something similar to your original clips would be good as it'll make it easier to hear any comparisons, but on the other hand if you could combine old school thrash with some Holdsworth legato and Gambale sweeps that would also be cool ;)
I find my Laney is a bit loose in the bass and lacks real crunch. It could be due to the speaker, old valves, the fact that it doesn't get cranked or because I once opened it up, messed with the trim pots and got myself electrocuted as a reward.

OK, so that was some hammer time phrases with a bit of widdly on the side to go?!    (Editors note - this is regarding my playing rather than the influences described!)

Well, I would say that my Laney even through the G12H doesnt do tight bass..its a little 'undefined' when playing chords down on E string, and i wouldnt describe it as crunchy either (but that what I got the JCM for :) ) it kind of reminds me a little a of a legacy amp from what i remember from a quick test a while back). Serioulsy, next time I get a chance to do some micing up, I will get you a sound bite.

Laney clip as promised - got a bit carried away noodling with it after it has been in a corner for so long :)

Recorded with an SM57 slightly offset at about 45 degrees, didnt have time to play around to find best spot but gives good representation of the sound. Hope this helps in the decision making.
