Pickups / Reverend Airsonic pickup suggestions

I recently put a Polypaf in the bridge of a Reverend Airsonic W which sounds absolutely amazing. The guitar has: a very unique body style with a thick center block but thinner wings with F-hole type cutouts that go all the way through, a bolt on neck, and a bass roll off tone control in addition to the typical treble tone control. I can't say for sure how the body style is supposed to affect the tone, but according to Reverend it is supposed to lend both the long sustain of a solid body and resonances typical of a semi hollow body. The neck pickup currently in it is a hum cancelling P90 style pickup which in comparison to the new Polypaf leaves much to be desired.

Looking for any recommendations for a neck pickup that would balance well with the Polypaf bridge and do tones ranging from indie style ambient cleans, the solo to Another Brick in the Wall, to All Then Witches fuzz tones, to modern style high gain leads. Currently I'm between just the matching Polypaf neck humbucker and Mississippi Queen HSP90, but wondering if anyone else has had success mixing and matching with another type of pickup in the neck position with Polypaf bridge.

TIA for any advice. Can't recommend the Polypaf bridge highly enough for anyone else on the fence about it (if anyone wasn't already instantly sold from the demo vids out there).

Although the Polymath can certainly handle those genres of music, it's by no means in the higher output portion of our humbucker range, sitting definitely in the medium output arena, as well as having a deliberately round and mellow low end feel which I don't think falls in line with the tight clear lows that you're describing. In fact, it sounds like a ceramic pickup will be a much better option for what you're asking for. Something like the Ragnarok would do a better job of giving you a stronger output, full, roaring mids and a tight response in the lows to keep those faster riffs clear and accurate. If you want a similar feel but a little more brightness in the highs and upper mids, the Unity would also be a great option.

Hi everyone,
TLDR; I want a pickup with as much output and clarity as possible.

I'm looking for a guitar pickup upgrade on my Schecter E-1 FR S.
I'll be pretty much exclusively playing powermetal / metalcore on it. So its either full gain sounds or clean, nothing in between.

I want some defined lows, the less muddy the better. No scooped mids and lots of clarity in the high end.
I either play with an OD-1 through a mesa boogie dual rectifier or 5150 through a Celestion V30 speaker.
Ocasionally I'm playing clean aswell.
So far I think the Polymath is the best fit for me, but I don't want to miss out on other good options.
Which pickup do you think is a good fit for me?

The Supermassive is definitely your best option for the thicker, darker tone of the BKP92.


The BKP92 did use 42AWG coil wire, but switching up to 43AWG for the Supermassive brought the overall coil size down and, in combination with its slightly oversized Alnico v magnets, that tightened up the low end response somewhat, with a bit more punch through the midrange, without brightening up those thicker highs.

The metal baseplates are optional on all of our Strats, including the Triptychs, so we have certainly built sets with no plates. Other than that, those have the correct black base fibreboard, but I can't see the coil to confirm the ID, but I also don't see any reasons to doubt the seller

With those figures, they will be Stormy Mondays - regardless of any differnt magnets used in a Mule, the winding spec has stayed consistent over time, so you would definitely see higher readings with a Mule set

Does anyone know by sight if these pickups are the Triptych single coils? I'm asking for help with this because I've always seen a metal plate attached to the neck and bridge pickup. I don't see that in these pics. Please help. Thank you

Pickups / Are these OLD Mules or Stormy Mondays?

I got a set of pickups used. Seller said they were mules. I just measured them and they measure at 7.7 bridge / 7.1 neck...
That seems very low for Mules.. matches the Stormy resistance perfectly. I'd be happy with either but I am curious.

I will install them and should know then.. but I've seen on old threads where the Mules had Alnico 2 before.. so maybe this is an older set of Mules? Were they wound lower back then with different magnets?

Anyone with knowledge of the older Mules would be a blessing. Thanks.
