Once it's done, I'll be getting it thrown up on MySpace. It's got a real stoner vibe to it. Using Half-speed guitar lines for bass parts is a pretty cool sound, I gotta say. Lot of weird stuff, for example, I'm getting reverb by playing the tracks at high volume into the face of an Electro-Acoustic, and D-I'ing the signal off the pickup, a lot of volume control swells, that kind of thing.

OK, I'm on board to hear that!  And to watch the feature-length documentary explaining how you did it all. 8)

i'm in a 'micromusic' band called gwEm and the gwEmettes ;)

i've written music software for the 1980s Atari ST home computer:

http://www.preromanbritain.com/ymvst

i program the Ataris, play guitar and sing.

my band mate 'Counter Reset' plays electronic percussion and raps.

our music is a punky sort of rave music i suppose, and we've had a bit of success, our current release is featured on an astralworks compilation:

my website is http://www.preromanbritain.com/gwem

heres a picture of us playing live:

Working on some very odd stuff at the minute. I'm working on six or seven pieces that are all Guitar generated, from the drums up (switch clicks, tapping pickups, mutes, pitch-shifting behind bridge and nut rakes). I'm using some software to sequence it, and get it mixed down properly.

gotta love experimentalism ;)

Gotta love big bags of weed and bottles of Jameson, the fuel for this particular fire, I'm afraid...

Production will ramp up once I buy a decent laptop in the next couple of weeks, and get mastermind out of the way.

Currently playing rock covers in a band called Uploaded. We've only had a full line up since January. A mate of the rhythm guitarist is a graphic designer, hence the new avatar, and we were in the studio last week. I'll be mixing on Monday and hope to get some tracks up on the myspace page shortly afterwards.

There's not much on it at present apart from a bad quality video and a biog that needs replacing. Check back in a week or so and it should be looking and sounding good.

Artists covered include Bowie, Black Crowes, Jet, The Clash, Primal Scream, Billy Idol.

Your avatar looks like he has either found a tasty doughnut and is salivating or is shouting at a CD for some obscure reason.
You can't beat a little ambiguity  .

On projects I'd love to get one up and running but there is virtually nobody who'll properly be prepared to follow my vision of what makes a decent song. The last time I tried to start something up I had a drummer from year 7 (now of year 8, but a really mature drummer for his age), a keyboardist with football commitments and a guitarist who later went on to join a punk band called Misled (great band though). We spent ages trying to find a bass player and the only person who displayed any interest in joining has never owned a bass, but was able to keep up well with the last band he was in (with the other guitarist) but that was years ago and he had since forsaken bass playing, which he had learned at lunchtimes on the school bass. Forgive me if I have problems with the ability and credibility of Malmesbury's free talent.
Am I the only one who listens to something other than $%&#ing Green Day  ?

This has got to be my longest ever post
If anyone is interested in starting something up or hiring a guitarist who uses standard E and you are in my area please tell me.
I too use chicken as a measurement.

Oh, where to start.

We'll go in order of seriousness- I personally have a shiteload of solo projects that I write in my spare time.  I've completed one album which features a whole roster of songs around the theme of Communism and various aspects of it- the good, the bad and the ugly, as it were.  I've also completed an album consisting of three extremely long "epic" instrumental songs, stories in music.  And I started working on another one not too long ago which is about various mythological hounds in world mythology. :D

Now, "proper" band no. 1- T.A.N.K (Myspazz: http://www.myspace.com/anorexicnoodle)
This is not really music.  I'll get that out of the way first.  It's a stupidly avant-garde noise outfit where many of our songs are based on chaos (and abusing the college music studio, since that's how we started up :D) and others are based on taking a theme and running with it to extreme lengths.  I do guitar, some "drums" :D, vocals, keyboard, and a lot of the computer sequencing and sampling and shite.  But that said, the other guys do drums, vocals, keyboard as well... we all just make mad noise, although myself and my mate Jonah are kinda the masterminds.  It'll make your ears bleed, I promise. :D  Not for the faint of heart.

Now, real bands: Northern Oak (http://www.myspace.com/thenorthernoak)
This is a nature-themed folk metal band created by myself and the drummer at Uni here in Sheffield- I play all the guitars.  We're still pretty young (only got properly formed in about February) and missing a bass player (but who needs bass players anyway? :D) but we're making serious headway- only got one song properly recorded, the live version of 'Aurora Diabolus' on the Myspace that isn't brilliant in quality, but we've got one gig properly confirmed on the 1st of May, another one tentatively just before that, and several other offers that we need to try and sort out.  Damn you Summer holidays. :D

And secondly (and lastly, for those of you wondering how long this post is going to go on), AXIA (http://www.myspace.com/axiarocks)
Japanese rock- we primarily play covers of J-Rock songs (that few people know, so they assume they're original :D) but we've got one original song done recently and there's another couple written.  I joined them as lead guitarist back in December and had about two weeks to practice for a couple of gigs :D  I'm the guy with the Gibson Flying V, although it ain't the best picture on the Myspace.  I like this one from our last gig:

Hey, it ain't my fault I'm a band whore. :D  In other news, there's now a live version of our first original song up on the AXIA myspace, and we're working on getting some nice video footage put together as well.

Rock. :D

It was meant to be a CD but I think the doughnut idea is more apt.

BTW mixing is done and the tracks are now up on myspace if anyone's interested. Any constructive feedback would be appreciated - either on the music or the page as a whole.

My dream band would be a 5 piece fusion/jazz/metal/prog band with me on guitar and keys 8) ...

But it's so frustrating.. I'm totally with you maverick, It's so hard to get a good band together when everyone's so goddamn shite! I'm planning on studying at the Australian Institute of Music when I leave school, and I might meet some good players there, but I don't wanna wait that long...

It's not fair!:cry::cry::cry:

My current band is a lefty punk band. No american accents, no posturing, just songs about things that matter. I've only joined recently, was a fan beforehand, off to europe later in the year, fun and games.
