Good Rats - Ratcity in Blue

Finally got it on CD and heard it for the first time in 10 years (maybe more) this morning.

Genius!  I can't believe it's 30 years old.  Brilliant songs, great musicianship and what a singer Peppi Marchello is!   :D

Wow... that's pretty cool.  Did you ever hear his son's hard rock/hair metal/shred cd "Destiny" under the band name "Marchello"?  Good stuff.  I need to pop that in the old cd player again.  It's been eons since I listened to it.

Later,
Jeff

Funnily enough, I was listening to Destiny a couple of months ago - again, for the first time in eons!

Gene Marchello's a damn good guitarist, but the album sounds pretty dated now - funny how 70s records still sound great and always have done, but loads of things from the 80s and 90s haven't stood the test of time at all....  :?

Both spellings are correct.  But I must admit Aeon Flux is a better title than Eon Flux.

I don't know whether these people count as world, folk, or "modern medieval", but I've been checking them out them lately: L'ham de foc.  Not much in the way of guitar pyrotechnics per se, but I've been digging their vibe! :)

I just got the Free Forever DVD and the Live at the BBC CD.  Some great stuff on there.  Anyone who likes blues/rock should take a listen.

Haven't seen/heard it read, but I've read good reviews.  Amazing that a) that footage was shot, and b) that it survived to make it onto DVD!

My current iPod fave is the most recent album by Camera Obscura (Lets get out of this Country) although I tend to skip the slower more miserable songs. The Chain Gang of Love album by the Raveonettes is (still) a hit, I love the songwriting and storytelling and off course the guitars that go from all nice and mellow to completely deranged fuzz 'n feedback assaults at the drop of a hat 8)

I was listening to that albom last week, it's way better than "pretty in black" and I love the 'twanky' guitar in love in a trashcan.

Iver the weekend I was listening to a lot of stuff by Air (if only they would forget abou vocals on their tracks), along with Children of Nuggets http://www.rhino.com/store/ProductDetail.lasso?Number=74639

I blame Carlaz for mentioning Sun Dial to me hough I do have about half the tracks on the original albums anyway.

Rob...
