Yes, I needed an excuse to post mine now it's finished :) It's been a while since we had one of these, plus everyones' been buying gear and Christmas has come and gone....
Here's my board - used at home and with my 80s rock band through my JTM45 and 4x12:

-
Here's mine.
It's actually in a bit of a state at the moment. The Analogman Bi-Comprossor and TC Vintage Delay are both currently on ebay (ending tomorrow). The delay is being replaced with a Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay, and I don't think I'm going to get another compressor for now.
PS. This thread will have to go some to catch up with the one over at The Gear Page, which currently has 9,491 replies and 1,530,587 views(!)

I'll have to take an up to date picture on tuesday at practise.

Here's mine (if I can figure out how to attach a picture!)

Hi Dr.X
How does that 'Soundlab' 9v power supply perform ? Does it supply a nice 'quiet' supply to your pedals ?
I saw them on the Maplin site and wondered abut them. They seem good value for what they do.
F.F.

Hi!
It works very well and is really quiet, except if I use it on the boss loop station when it hums a bit. I have no idea why this is as it's great with my other pedals.
I got mine off ebay last year and had to return the first one I was sent because it didn't work at all. The replacements been great though, excellent value for money.

I also have one, was great with Jim Dunlop + MXR, but the Boss units seemed noisy, particularly the reverb, Not enough to make me stop using them, probably just the mix of the unit itself being noisy, and the PSU.
Now I only use overdrive anyway though..
-
Oo Goody, I love pedalboards !! Unfortunately the size of mine is inversely proportional to the size of my talent :(
please note the scruffy looking power supplies actually work very well !
If I had to choose the most important pedals to me on the board, they would easily be the DD-20 and the Blue Boy Deluxe.
The three truebypass switching pedals are excellent and turn my pedalboard from mediocre to outstanding. The AB box keeps the Behringer tuner out of the signal pathway. The red looper pedal has the BBD in one loop and the crunchbox and the fuzz in another, so I can stomp between them with one stomp. the Tone Press is before both loops, and the Clean boost is after both loops.
the final switching pedal is the ABY box after the DD-20 which directs the signal to the two different channels of my AC30. these switching pedals are cheap but, if carefully chosen, can work wonders !

i sort of feel i should have a pedal board... although i'd only put 2 or 3 pedals on it, plus a PSU... wondering if its really worth it.

You mean you DON'T have a pedalboard !!! How embarassing !!

lol ;) no i don't - playing takes up all my attention!
depending on the gig - i bring a tuner, some sort of distortion/booster, and occasionally a compressor. i have a strict no digital policy too.
-
well mine aint a board yet but i am working on getting the collection up to size first.
Here is the main guts of it so far
(http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/XL802675.jpg)
Not much yet i know but tehre are a couple of others not here at the moment.
Danelectro Daddy O - overdrive
BYOC large beaver - Big muff clone
BYOC Tri booster
Carlsboro Flanger
i also have a BYOC phase 90/45 and a modded crybaby to go in it - just need to replace the circuit board on the crybaby after 1 to many experiments
yeah, so a few gain based pedals but thats really the best way to get the most out of my little rock. maybe only two will make it onto the board
I have a danelctro cool cat chorus to match the daddy O coming as well
Just after a compresser, Delay and tremelo and maybe a few oddballs to make it worthy of making into a pedal board.. and i need to add an adapter jack to the carlsboro
but the project is underway!!
-
I don't have one either. I will though, I just need to buy about 5 pedals, a power supply, and the board/case thing. :P
As of now, the only pedal I use is my T-Rex Alberta. And I never turn it off, even for cleans. I've got a bunch I need to sell though.
-
As I don't gig I don't need one. Although when jamming before, I've always got away with a tuner fuzz, trem and delay.
-
I have 3 different pedalboards which I use depending on what I'm doing:
This is my main pedalboard for when I'm using either my Orange or Carlsbro amp heads. I set the heads clean/crunchy and get all my other sounds from the pedals.
This is a small board I've put together for me to use when I'm just jamming along at home, or if I have a jam with a friend etc.
This is is the board I use when I'm using my rack. The rack setup is still a work in progress, but I'm slowing getting my head around all the MIDI stuff etc :)
The top 2 photos are a little out of date as I no longer have the HBE Uno Mos, MXR Phase 90 or the Roger Mayer Voodoo Axe on the main board, nor the BOSS EQ on the small board. The Uno Mos and Fuzz have been replaced with a MI Audio Buff N' Boost (great sounding Boost and Buffer) and the MXR Phase 90 has been replaced with a HBE Psilocybe Phase Shifter.. The EQ on the small board has been replaced with the HBE Uno Mos from the main board :)
-
How do you all get your photos so large on this forum? I'm not too good at posting images - last one I tried was apparently too big, I compressed it to the right size and it came back looking like a stamp. Any quick tips on getting decentsized photos on here? Cheers!
-
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/PierreEmmanuel/DSCN4132.jpg)
I dislike modulations of any kind except phaser. The board is pretty much complete right now, though I will upgrade the compressor (the Marshall one is GREAT but a bit noisy) and swap the Small Stone for a Nano one. The SD1 is to undergo further modding too...
And soon to be added are a DIY BSIABII I did a while ago which is at someone else's house right now, as well as a mosfet booster once uni is less heavy and I can build it.
And of course I'll need an actual board and a proper power supply... The 1spot is great but I could do with something a bit better quality.
-
That's some serious Russian pedals you got there! You need a pedal truck not a board
Great rig.
-
ironic that that huge black box is called a SMALL stone! :P
i don't have a pedal board, i usually only plug in the one or two pedals i plan on using, but i'll have to get them all together for a group hug and photograph.
-
Yeeep those will have to be rehoused I think... The Muff I'm ok with (...) but the Small Stone will have to go, too much real estate. Brilliant phaser though!
Yesterday I GASed for a tremolo pedal :( What's wrong with me? :( Damn pocket POD's blackface models
The grey pedal is a CM Plexitone prototype.
-
I picked up a assembled BYOC trem from the bay for 40 notes.
Its gorgeous.
-
My word, there are some big pedal boards on here...

Don't be embarassed gwEm :) - if you're happy with your sound stick with it. Some of the best guitar sounds I've heard are from guitarist with little or no pedals between guitar and amp,
-
Has been up here already, actually I am undecided whether I shouldn't go back to straight into amp and the Tonelab SE in the loop ...
-
these two.
nothing else.... yet.
i keep the tuner AFTER the overdrive. Reason being that the tuner is true bypass so it doesnt matter when its off, but if it is before the overdrive and ON, and the overdrive is on, then i get this wierd hum when i tune. Otherwise its relatively silent.
Might add a bluebeard and a wah eventually.. once i can find a wah i like.
maybe a gate in the loop.

Just took it, like, 10 minutes ago! From right to left...
Boss FV500H volume pedal
Teese RMC2 (just got it!)
Boss TU-2 tuner
SPF Ego Booster (clean boost, I use it to boost my Lace Sensors output)
That stuff all goes in the front of the amp, and this stuff goes in the effects loop:
MXR 6-band EQ
BYOC Phaser
MXR Stereo Chorus
Boss DD-2
Two handmade true bypass looper pedals, one for the phaser and one for the chorus/delay.
There's a little bit of space left for a BBE Sonic Stomp and then another delay pedal, possibly the new MXR Carbon Copy or the BBE Two Timer.
8)
(AND I APOLOGISE FOR MY PARENTS DODGY CARPET!!)
-
My board as is now, but seems to be changing by the week at the moment.
-
(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y114/GhostLu/IMG_2089.jpg)
Its basic, but I don't use that many pedals! My grandad built the actual board which has a lid and becomes a case! What a legend.
Had a seymour duncan pickup booster (which was shite) and the Zakk Wylde overdrive pedal, which is pointless having with a valve head but makes solid states sound bloody lovely!
-
Here's mine - probably too many distortions at the moment - I'm trying to see which one stays.
-
Elliot - OK some questions, is that a HBE BIG - D? Whats that like? The wah any good too?
-
Yep - its a Big D - its a great pedal, very versatile - from a OD to a screaming distortion with a fuzzy diode too. I have a HBE Powerscreamer and prefer the Big D.
The Weeping Demon is the only Wah i've tried so I can't really say - it has all the bells and whistle's and does the business tone wise but its has a physically quite narrow area for the wah sweep - You can't really pump the pedal, you have to learn the spot and play there.
-
I've only just noticed it says "pedlaboards".
HA!

May as well update my board pic while I'm here...

Its a Mesa/Boogie styled 2x12 cab from Zilla Music - I have G12H30s in it and run a Fender Blues Junior through it. Now the speakers are breaking in (i've been using it as my stereo speakers to get the cones broken in) its beginning to sound awesome.
-
simple but it's always changing.
have changed the power supply to a Trex and gone back to my Boss CE-2 added a Keeley Compressor and added a TREX replica delay in place of the H2o

right to left:
Keeley-Fuzz Head
MJM-Roctavios
RMC3-Custom Wha
Line 6-Liqua Flange
MIJ Boss DD3 (blue label)
I am going to add to this a keeley looper to make the Liqua Flange and Boss DD3 into true bypass, so then the entire chain will be true bypass. I will also be getting a pedaltrain2 Hard Case and a Diago Power supply at the end of April, so I'll finally be able to gig with them. I have never as yet heard how they sound all at once  and can't wait.

My Pedal Board out in the snow this morning :D
-
(http://www.padfoot.plus.com/img/Pedalboard.JPG)
This is my current pedalboard:
Boss noise suppressor (very cheap 2nd hand, covered in scratches so I painted it silver and painted on a cyberman symbol. NERD 8) )
Barber Tone Press
Limited edition Fuzz Factory
MI Audio Blue Boy deluxe overdrive
Boss Metal Core ML-2
Little Big Muff
MXR Phase 90
Boss Giga delay DD-20
-
Hi
This is my pedalboard !
I change the wha swithch for a true bypass Banzai.
The fulldrive2 is feed with 12 v dc.
I think i'm gonna add a tremolo...
-
So how do you find the OCD and the Fulldrive 2 on the same board? Do they compliment each other? I have the OCD but auditioned a Fulldrive 2 MOSFET recently and thought it was pretty much the same sound so decided against it. Would welcome your views.

So, that's a new muff and Mxr phaser if I'm not mistaken Sue !
You're going to need a new pedalboard ! Mark my words !

I do love the Tomb of the Cyberman symbol on that noise gate - its a kind of Cybermat pedal - awesome :D

OCD and FD2 are different. I plug Ocd before FD2. It give me more for solo. Not like a boost. it's difficult to explain. I work very good with LesPaul.

I don't havea camera, but I do have ms paint:

Tell me about it, with a bit for krypton factor rearranging I could maybe fit in one more small one, but most of the pedals I currently covert are quite large

I am such a nerd but I love the old Patrick Troughton stuff, and cyberpedal rolls of the tongue much better than noise gate

Here she blows:

My Chain:
Bypass looper
1.Volume
2.Tuner
Wobo - infront of amp
1 KeeleyModded SD1
2 George dennis wah
3 (General Guitar Gadgets)DOD Envelope filter
4 Whammy
5 Pog
Wobo - in FX loop
1 BYOC Tremolo
2 Boss bf3 Flanger
3 BYOC Phase 90
4 Boss DD6 delay
5 BYOC Chorus (CE2 Clone)
6 BYOC Delay
7 Holy Grail Plus
AFter Wobo
ISP decimater.
There were loads more on their - but I couldnt lift it and the insanity of my design and number of pedals hit home after the last gig when the weight of the pedals pulled the velcro off the board!
-
here is the latest pic, I have got a Pedal Train 2 now finally:

Could anyone please tell me whether i should plug my pedal board into my amp's input or effects loop?
The pedals in my rig are used for boosting the amp for example i have a Maxon OD808 for boosting the gain channel, RC booster for cleans/anytime, Keeley compressor and the others are a BB preamp and Reverb.
Could anyone suggest which input i go for?
Thanks!
PS: This goes into my fairly high gain Mesa F-50 if that matters
-
i'd say all in front of the amp, except the reverb, because that would mess with the distortion in the amp's preamps stage. so reverb in the loop.
-
+1
-
Oh, okay thanks - also, could anyone tell me if different power supplies make any difference? Could someone recommend a 'good' one if there is such a thing?
Thanks
-
The Diago one is good, but a bit pricey.
-
Here's mine on a Diago pedalboard.
-
JJretro what is the little pedal
-
Heres mine. Its a bit of a mess at the moment, I just got a new power supply for it (Diago Powerstation. Brilliant)
Ive not plugged the Whammy into it yet so havent decided where in the chain to have it.
As it is: Korg Pitchblack > Boss CS3 Compressor > Vox Big Bad Wah > Lovepedal Pickle Vibe > Fulltone OCD > Ibanez TS7 Tubescreamer > Boss DS-2 Distortion > EH Big Muff Pi > Amp Effects loop: EH Small Clone chorus > Digitech RV-7
(http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q362/Supernaught85/DSCF0523.jpg)
-
Mmmmm picle vibe
-
Ive got a pedaltrain-pro softcase version due to arrive in the mail today, dont have enough pedals to fill it (yet) but got it 2nd hand for a decent price, looking forward to having everything nice and tidy.
-
I'm putting one together currently, any recommendation on power supplies? I need to run at least six pedals at 9v plus a T.Rex Replica at 12v.
-
Pedalpower? Thats what im looking at, since Ive mostly got 9v stuff but then my wireless reciever is 12v.
Also modtone has a powersupply similar to the pedal power. not sure what the price is on that but their pedals are priced quite reasonably.
-
Yeah the Voodoo Labs is what I've been looking at, just hankering for a more reasonably priced equivelant!
-
Id highly recommend the Diago Powerstation.
I was using a Rocktron DC On Tap (£35), but there was a LOT of hiss. It was all down to the buffered pedals I was using ie. the Boss ones, and even with them taken out there was noise due to powering pedals in front of the amp and in the loop at the same time.
I decided to splash out on a Diago (£69) and I have the quietest signal chain ever. Even running everything in the above post.
A Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 would be the ideal solution, especially as you can combine 2 outputs to create 18v to run the OCD, but as its £200 and can only power up to 8 pedals I went for the Diago. (powers up to 30)
Heres a nice guide to power supplies. Its made by Diago showing alternatives to their product, but its pretty usefull: http://www.diago.co.uk/pedal-power/alternatives/
-
Will it power the T rex? Says it's output is only 9v on their website?
-
woah, my pedaltrain just turned up, its huge.
Now i need to find more pedals
-
Will it power the T rex? Says it's output is only 9v on their website?
Yup.
Check this out:
http://www.diago.co.uk/powerstation_compatibility.html
-
Cool, will I get issues running effects both in the loop and in front of the amp, since obviously they're not gonna be isolated outputs?
Thanks for the help. :)

I was worried about this, but its absolutely fine. Got a chorus and reverb in the loop and still dead quiet.

Very much a work in progress... It's over at Marauder's at the moment awaiting painting and may even get another level, so this is an old pic. Made from a £5 shelf from Ikea :D I am the SUPER PIKEY:

Maybe channel switching on his amp?
-
Maybe channel switching on his amp?
I'm thinking the ENGL footswitch does that. I think Antag has a rack too, so maybe tuner and other stuffs?
-
Quite simple..
The EQ only ever gets used when playing gigs, put in the loop as a lead boost. PSU quite noisy sometimes, and the wah is becoming rather temperamental (earlier it didnt wah, just a very narrow range, toe up gave loads of feedback). I would like a whammy to mess around with. Oh and the tuner doesnt always switch on/off  Had it for years now so its had a good run. I would replace it buy really cant afford it right now :(
-
Get a Boss Tuner. Mine has done 100+ gigs, thrown into vans, cars and everything else and even had a pile of sick sit on it overnight. It works a beaut.
Paddy.
-
So the little Lehle is switching your loop effects in and out? What is the Lehle 3@1 doing then?
Yes, the Little Lehle is effectively a pedal bypass - it's the one thing on the board I could easily lose because the switch is so noisy (a really loud "clunk") that I just leave it on all the time, plus with high quality cables there's absolutely NOTHING to gain tone-wise from bypassing the pedals.
The 3@1 is for switching guitars, although it does have 2 outputs so I could run a tuner off it if I wanted. It's such a great product & makes guitar changes so convenient (& quiet). It's really useful to be able to put a guitar down, pick another one up, step on a button & carry on playing without having to swap cables over etc...
-

Yes, the Z10 switches the amp's channels. The Lehle 3@1 is for switching guitars.
I do have a rack too, but don't do any switching of it - my Engl has 2 FX loops, so the TC Electronic G-Major in loop 1 only affects the clean & crunch channels, then the BBE 482 in loop 2 only affects the two lead channels - allowing me to go from a lush warm clean sound swimming in reverb & delay to a full on metal sound at the touch of a single button!

I've now built my board (photos to follow) and it needs a bag/case.
I ordered one of the Gator 2110 keyboard ones but it's too small. I need something probably 23"x15"x6" or thereabouts. Any ideas folks?

bewithdenis, can you enlighten us a bit on the Buddy Guy Wah. How does it fare with high-gain (I'm sure it does great on the lower gain settings)?
:D
I like your pedals btw.

(slide to the right)
This is my new pedal board (below my old stuff that I keep for holidays at my parents' place). I know, a bit extravagant to have two pedal boards, but I do like to collect stuff somehow.
I am still "working" on it, i.e. arranging things properly. I am planning on adding a Noisegate to it, mostly because for some reason the Boss RC-2 hums a lot in the effect loop. I am not using the Slash Wah at the moment really.
Old one; I use the Tuner, Zakk OD, the Synth Wah and the CFH Wah only at the moment.

for me it handles distortion & fuzz very very well, for really high gain you would have to play with the positioning in the pedal chain, maybe after the drive or distortion to accentuate the wah more,if youve used a fasel equiped wah its very much in that ball park.
cheers for the complement.

What's the Catalinbread trem like?
-
fantastic,i cant recommend it enough, ive used alot of trems over the years and this is the best,it easily is as good as the trem on my old fender pro reverb..
cheers

oooh check out that floor board, ahhhhh thing is ladies I use my fingers not my toes to play! ;)
Never been an FX man although I have a Toad Works Meat Jr for pushing the front end of an 18w Matchless copy I made, but it's not being used on my own design of amp.

I've a few pedals kicking about that fill that space on occasion, whilst I try and decide what should go there full time, likely a tremolo.

Are those DAM pedals as good as I hear they are? I've a hankering for a MKII.

The Meathead is the only one I've tried, but I retired my Fuzz Factory as a normal fuzz pedal immediately after I got it. It's just doom in a box. Love it too bits.

Here is mine - current version:
Front: RMC3 Wah => OCD => Tuner
Loop: Jacques Meistersinger Chorus => Behringer Trem => Providence Delay => RC Booster
I have separate power supplies for front and loop to supppress hum issues.

Also a chance to show off my new pedal i bought yesterday, a Keeley Java boost, which will be replacing my Blackstar boost. I didn't like how much gain it seemed to add, whereas the Keeley just adds extra sustain and definition, loving it!
All i need now is a new tuner, i'll probably go for the Korg one.

I bought some new pedals (Christmas coming up, 55 Euro voucher, got tired of the old ones):

Things have changed (again) for me
I'm a fan of the simple rig that I can carry in 2 hands (Head in one hand and FX in the other).
Now I got a setup where all is very neat and extremely flexible, so let me explain:
Signal flow is:
GUITAR TO AMP:
Guitar => Little Lehle
Little Lehle Send => Boss AC-2 (effect out AC2 to DI/PA) => M13 Input
M13 FX Send => Little Lehle Return
Little Lehle Out => RetroSonic => Radial Booster => Steavens Poundcake
The Little Lehle Looper is mainly to keep the signal integrity intact, means if I have a program where the amp's loop is off and the Lehle is on Bypass, I retain a completely analog signal flow with guitar=>amp=>cab. Unfotunately the true bypass on the M13 won't work with 4CM, so this is my way around this restriction.
SEND/RETURN:
Steavens Send => M13 FX Return
M13 Output => Steavens Return
MIDI: M13 => Steavens Midi In
How it works:
I mainly switch scenes on the M13, which sends a Program Change to the amp, so for example I could hit one of the buttons on the M13, that would:
-Switch the Amp to Crunch Channel, Mid Boost on, Loop Active (all via one PC message)
-Put a Delay and Reverb in the Loop of the Amp
-Make a Chorus available in the front end loop of the M13 that I can kick in or not with the Little Lehle
I think it's pretty neat, and with the added flexibility of the Lehle switcher and the Midi controlled amp, adds another dimension to your usual M13 rig. I just love the fact that it behaves like a Huge Rig (Midi Controller switches Preamps and Effects) but in fact is very compact. I wouldn't have thought that I'd ever be happy with a Line6 product.
By the way I sold my Axe FX partially to fund the line 6 :D
-
this was my pedal board last month, there's a D*A*M ramhead in there now also, and a skreddy pigmine and and ronsound hairpie classic on order. am seriously thinking about a few S.U.F's in there also and some kinda germanium fuzz.. im on the list for a D*A*M super bee, but JAM pedals have an interesting one in production too..
the wah is a fulltone clyde standard btw :)
-
Thought I'd join in with my megre pedalboard:
Main areas of interest I guess are the Eventide Modfactor, which is pure class, and the Devi Ever Punch Love, which is a cracking little boost pedal.
The BiYang delay is on the "get shot of" list - sounds nice, but too much of a volume drop when it kicks in. Makes a big difference now that I'm actually playing in a band...

Well, with my pedal building obsession hitting overdrive, I expanded beyond the limited confines of my GORM board pretty quickly and have moved on to a set of drawers and just getting out what I fancy noodling around with... Even then it was getting silly so I've started dismantling some of my lesser used pedals rather than be over-run by the things like Tribbles. Anyhow, here's my board (well it's the floor and it's a mess) and a couple of drawers worth.
As it stands they are as follows (starting from the top and zig/zagging downwards):
Vibratron (EF86 boost using 6BR7 tube and Vibracaster)
Elunium PU36 Exposive Space Modulator (UglyFace + LFO)
Prom Girl (Promiscuous Girlfriend)
Thermionic Overdrive II (Twincaster using 12DW8 tubes)
Danger! High Voltage (EF86 Boost using 6BR7 tube)
Thermionic Vibradrive (Vibracaster using 12DW8 tube)
Fuzzy Kitten (22/7)
RangeMaster
Agent Orange (Orange Squeezer)
SnapCracklePop (SHO)
Stompster (Dr. Boogey)
Clone Abduction (re-housed Small Clone)
Zach in a Box (Box of Rock)
Trek Phaser (BYOC Phase 90)
SG-1 (BYOC Boss Slow Gear)
COD (OCD)
Bender (BYOC ESV Tonebender)
Dr Daffy (Nurse Quacky)
Gameboy Effect (seriously messed with version of a PWM+LFO)
Master Shredder (Marshall Shredmaster)
Sholicon (Hot Silicon + SHO)
Brazillian Beaver (Big Muff Pi)
Echoes (BYOC Ping/Pong Delay)
TCE Nova Gate/Comp

Juan what are the ef86 pedals like
Smoooooooth boost. Works really nicely on the overdrive channel of the amp. All was well and good with them until we came across the 12DW8, which is just lovely. It's a 50-60 car radio valve and as such it works optimally at 12v unlike the 6BR7 we use in place of the EF86 (EF86 suffers from microphony problems). The Twincaster destroys all in it's path when it comes to valve pedals. Brighter that the sometimes muddy regular valvecaster and with massive amounts of level on tap. The only problem being the massive current draw requiring a somewhat substantial PSU. I think people have cottoned on to the tubes though as the price has almost doubled on them :(
I might be tempted to sell the Vibratron at some point (ef86 and Vibracaster in one). It's a bit redundant now that I have the others. God knows what I'd sell it for... It's possibly the most expensive thing I've ever built in terms of parts. I've never really totted it up.
-
Well, I'm getting there, all I need sorted now is a reverb pedal and I think I'm there. Well that is until I change my mind again!
Goes Boss Tu-2 -> Fulltone OCD > T-Rex Dr Swamp -> Red Witch Pentavocal Trem -> T-Rex Viper -> Way Huge Aqua-Puss.
I'm still undecided about the reverb pedal as I've not been able to get out and try the ones I like the look of.
I start with a nice clean tone in a Martamp Deluxe, the OCD gives me a nice crunchy tone, whilst kicking in the first Dr Swamp channel gives a nice lead boost. Kicking in the second Dr Swamp channel just makes it go mental!
-
How do you like your two T-Rex pedals, Shobet? I've tried both a long time ago. I remember I found the Doctor Swamp too wooly/fuzzy when the gain was set high. Isn't it a bit wooly/fuzzy or am I not remembering right?
I can't really remember how the Viper sounded. Only thing i remember is that I thought it was more phaser-ish at the time and was a little disapointed that it couldn't do some extreme phasing stuff. That was then and seeing it on your board makes me realize that I have to go check it out again soon. It can get pretty close to the Univibe, right?
-
Never having tried a proper univibe I can't comment on the differences. Hover it does have a bit of phaser about it I must say. It replaced a MojoHand nebula phaser but gives me a few more options in that modulation dept.
As for the Dr Swamp there's a bit of a sharp edge to it and possibly some fuzziness. However it's replaced a Skreddy ?Lady fuzz pedal so I don't mind a bit of hair on my sound. :)

It constantly changes except for the eventides, line driver, Boss Tuner and BBE pre.. the rest comes and goes as the gig/mood takes me.
Blackstars Distortion pedals are blowing my mind at present... seriously great sounding.. love em! :)
-
I currently have 3 pedalboards setup, but I'm taking 2 of them to pieces and completely downsizing and selling off a lot of stuff I don't use much anymore. I can't post pics from work so those will come later.
My main board when using my old Carlsbro 50-Top clean head was:
HBE Medicine Bawl Wah -- MI Audio Boost N' Buff -- Korg Pitchblack Tuner -- HBE Compressor -- HBE Power Screamer -- G2D Custom OD -- Brown Sound In A Box 2 -- WOBO 3 loop FX bypass router (Loop 1 = BOSS CE3 Chorus and TR2 Tremolo, Loop 2 = HBE Psilocybe Phaser, Loop 3 = Ibanez DE7 Delay Echo) -- HBE Dos Mos 2 channel Booster
I also had a smaller/backup board that was:
HBE Medicine Bawl Wah/Spina Modded Vox V847 Wah -- BOSS TU2 Tuner -- BOSS OD3 Overdrive -- BOSS SD1 Super Overdrive -- MI Audio Crunchbox -- BOSS CE5 Chorus -- MXR Phase 90 or EH Nano Small Stone -- ZVex Super Duper 2 in 1 Booster
Since getting my Splawn Quick Rod I've not needed to use a single gain or Overdrive pedal, I never really got much use out of the Compressor or Phasers and just can't make Delay work for me, so now my main (and possibly only) pedalboard will be:
HBE Wah -- BOSS TU2 or Korg Pitchblack Tuner -- HBE Uno Mos or MI Audio Boost N' Buff (single channel boost to lift volume of single coil guitars upto that of humbucker loaded 1s) and a Rivera Headmaster MIDI Controller for changing Channels, Gears, OD Settings and Solo On/Off on the Quick Rod.
The time may come when I need Reverb, Delay or Chorus etc again so if that's the case then I'll probably just use my G-Major in the loop of the QR and leave it at that.
-
i think i may need a delay pedal and a phase 90 and im done!

but it got destroyed at a gig. never worked correctly again. also... when i got it, the 9v input for a daisy chain was wired backwards internally.

Sweet.. how do you like the Polytune?
-
Sweet.. how do you like the Polytune?
I really like it. I had 2 Peterson tuners and whilst they are great for set ups and studio work I wanted something smaller on my board as the Strobo was a little too big. Seems great quality too.
-
So here's my pedalboard.
The chain is: Boss TU-2 -> Cry Baby wah -> T-Rex Alberta -> Emma Reezafratzitz -> Burford The Reefer -> Boss PH-2 -> TC Electronic Nova Repeater -> Zinky Master Blaster. The Digitech Whammy isn't connected at the picture.
-
Day off sick today (cough, cough...), so perfect time to get my pedalboard tweaked before Fallen Poets return to Chinnery's in Southend this Saturday (Chinnery's is one of the best live music venues in Essex...)
Mark.
-
I envy your Red Witch phaser, Mark. Seems like a great pedal.
-
Yeah, it's great.
I love modulation pedals - I've got an Eventide ModFactor too, which I used a lot. But it's a pain in the @rse, as I can only use one effect at at time, and it's a bespoke power supply. The RedWitch does some really cool things, including a UniVibe type effect (not quite, but pretty close).
Great pedal.
Mark.
-
two mod pedals at once sounds good.
maybe if someone made a kind of a/b/mix pedal you could do it. two inputs, and 1 out with a footswitchable 'blend' pot to blend the two inputs.
so you could select either pedal to a dry out, or have both pedals on and blended in the output.
could be a cool little pedal. yes I am thinking aloud.

which pedals?
-
It's odd, I assumed fewer pedals for Doom...
-
Most of them are different fuzzes haha.
Mine (Hell) has an RMC Wizard, a TU2, a phase, 90, a T Rex replica, a Keeley Compressor and a DAM Meathead. Paul's (Noise) has a korg tuner, some fuzz called a musket, a big muff, another two fuzzes I forget the names of and a EHX Cathedral.
-
It's evolved a wee bit and I think I'm nearly there for what I hear in my head. What was previously there has moved around a bit and a couple of new things have made it on. I much prefer the sound of the Viper before any of the other pedals and it does give me a cleaner vibe tone - to my ears at least - than having it post distortion.
The Skreddy ?Lady has made it back on there as I can't live without a fuzz...
I'm still torn between having the T-Rex Dr. Swamp or a T-Rex Dual Boost and I've got to do some more side-by-side testing at volume.
-
That's a nice OCD there Huw.

nice tuner!
Ta............ best tuner on the market - small, accurate and easy to use. (Sonic Research Turbo Tuner in case anyone's wondering)
Another top tip for any OCD users out there........... feed it with 18 Volts. It is the most amazing and cheapest upgrade you will EVER make to a pedal board. Cost me £2.50 for the Y Lead and it's turned it into a fire-breathing Plexi MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!
Feed THAT with a BKP Mule-equipped Les Paul and you're sorted for life :D
-
Hi,
Built my first pedal board at the weekend. All powered (minus the whammy) by an Voodoo Labs PP2. Secured the power to the underside of the board.
Really happy with it, was getting a slight hum which I couldn't pin down. Added a bypass loop for the whammy today and now when the Guv'nor, whammy, bypass pedal or the muff are engaged the hum is gone.
So I am currently leaving the bypass pedal engaged to eliminate the hum and using the whammy's on/off as usual.
I bought the bypass to eliminate the whammy's suck of tone but is proving better as a hum cancelling device. Any ideas on this anyone???
Chain is Vox Wah, Digitech Whammy, Dano vibe, Marshall Guv'nor, EH Big Muff, Flanger, EQ, EH Holy Grail Reverb. Tuner comes off the second output on the Flanger.
-
pretty sure the whammy's Power supply is causing the hum. can you try running it on batteries to confirm?
i know the stock dunlop psu for wah's hums terribly compared to the visual sound adaptor or even a boss psa-120
-
I read somewhere that the pedal power 2 isn't suitable for the holy grail and produces a hum. I think the holy grail has a higher current draw than the PP2 can provide or something. Try taking it out of the chain and see if the hum's still there.
-
I don't know about the Holy Grail, but my Cathedral came with a power supply rated at 9,3 Volts or something like that, so maybe that is true. I still use it with the powerplant.
New setup on my pedalboard, it also sounds very good now, loss of sound due to cables is minimal now finally.
The Boss SD-1 is just a place holder - I don't need two overdrives. The thing is, I don't know what to replace it with.
Open for suggestions, tell me what you think I could use on my pedal board. What do you think is missing?
A chorus, tremolo, delay? EQ? I'd prefer something that works with clean and overdrive.
-
Im thinking about getting myself a Cathedral soon :)
Just bought a noise supressor today, so now im running... 2 pedals yay :D
808 tube screamer and the noise supressor :D

I must say, if I had to buy a Reverb again, I would rather go for the Hardwire Reverb. The Cathedral is good, but definitely is made for some more whacko EHX sounds rather than neutral & authentic reverbs.
-
i saw a band called liturgy where their singer used it for both vocals and guitar. they had such a cool sound. he really abused the infinite button a lot :D Amazing band

Interesting, I think I should play around with that feature a bit more.
I mostly only use the Accu Springs, Plate and Echo models, nothing too special or outlandish.

I'll have some nice pedalboard porn to post soon - got a Pedaltrain on the way, great deal on it too.
been gigging with the Pedaltrain for about a month now - massive improvement, just SO convenient.
I'm running the following signal path...
Guitar >> Jen Crybaby >> Polytune >> Dynacomp >> MXR EQ >> bypass box with blend control (Boss OC-3 in the loop) >> Phase 45.
It's all hooked up with Van Damme cable and Amphenol jacks, made up by Weardale Electrics who sells these for cheaper than I can buy the parts (it's a no-brainer for me).
There is a Aquapuss clone to come at some point, plus I have NOS Dynacomp PCBs for a dual-dynacomp with two sets of pots (footswitchable), one set for a solo boost, the other for unity gain and lots of squish.

Well someone likes MXR... How do you find the black label chorus? I've been wanting to try it out but cannot for the life of me find it anywhere!
-
Yep, I like MXR. Affordable, durable, and the effects usually hit the spot.
The BLS chorus is quite 80s sounding. It's the best chorus pedal I've tried so far (not that I've tried all that many) and it really suits me.
There was a pretty cool clip on youtube of a guy demoing the pedal with the settings from the manual, but I can't find it anymore...

Pray tell, do they have Fooger in their names?
-
boy oh boy would i have fun trying to figure out a way to use all your pedals at once juansolo! i think you'd spend more in cables than what you have spent building these boxes!
-
Pray tell, do they have Fooger in their names?
Not yet, but that's almost certainly on the cards. First is a subdecay prometheus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUJ9jSrnfyA). Also trying to snag a Civ Issue Geiger Counter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we5JErCLwPk).
-
I think the Prometheus and my MuRF would get on well! However I'm sold on both, tits...
-
damn, some real nice stuff in this thread! I've got some serious envy for a bunch of the stuff here.
here is my toned down board... no where near all the pedals i have, but what I am using at the moment. It will soon have an Empress Super delay and Eventide Space replacing the holy grail
(http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m54/Necrite_ist_Krieg/104_0486.jpg)
and my amp as well
(http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m54/Necrite_ist_Krieg/104_0485.jpg)

I've picked up a few new pedals lately (many from Juansolo), and wanted to put together a new pedalboard. My godson, who is a guitarist in an indy band (for want of a better description!), is also over here, and being just 23, wanted to get everything out to see what there is. I have been collecting pedals for the last 35 years, so pulling everything was a big exercise, but I picked up some pedal tone hard cases cheaply, and we put everything that isn't being used in them. I got the new board set up, but I couldn't fit everything I wanted on it. This is the probable final look:
From right to left, front:
Juansolo Angel of Death Metal
Musitech Tube Talker (valve wah)
Juansolo Sinistube
Boss Distortion Feedbacker (modded distortion circuit to smooth out the sound)
Next row:
Pigtronix Attack Sustain
Strymon Lex
Strymon Favourite switch (for El Capistan)
Strymon El Capistan
Very back row
Caitlinbread Dirty Little Secret
Juansolo Klone
I still had a lot of stuff I wanted to use, and my old board was still there with some things on it, so we are working through the pedals. This is the stuff we have to get through!
-
Lots of the good stuff, Philking. I can understand your troubles about minimizing for just one pedalboard. What's that red amp that can be seen in the background on the second pic?
-

It's a mini-Mat with a matching 1x12, we were using that for testing. I think he played most of the pedals through it. He's over here to get a new guitar (which he's already put a deposit on [PRS Chris Henderson]), but he played my metal front Zemaitis clone, and it looks like I'll be down a guitar! I'm giving him a few pedals too since he's like a son to me (his father & I used to play in bands back in the 70's).

No pics unfortunately but this was my stage set up:
Guitar - Lehle D.Loop (one loop is used as tuner insert and mutes the output) - Baldringer Dual Drive (1) - Baldringer Dual Drive (2) - Boss RV-3 - Amp.
The amp is a home built 1x12" combo which is set up for a clean tone. All of the drive is done with pedals - (1) sets the basic colour, and (2) gives two boost modes with different gain settings.
The D.Loop also has a booster included which is set up for a slight clean boost and is only used for boosting clean solo tones.
Cheers Stephan

What's your opinion on the Cruiser? I've been thinking of getting one of them for a while.
-
Best pedal I've ever played through in 30 years. Sell everything you don't need and buy one. Some are calling it the Centaur Klon of the future. It could be iconic.
A very clever piece of engineering with unique points from a pure genius of a guy - Jesse Hoffe. My dream rig would probably be one of his Lazy J amps with the Cruiser in front of it. Nothing else needed (except a lottery win to pay for one)
I ordered mine direct from Jesse and it was a 6 week lead time (about 8 months ago) - not sure what current lead times are like.
Good luck

This is mine...

Although I'd hate to be him lol

Did you make two zombie tramps or have you just turned my house over whilst i was out?
I made 3 (cleggy has one too) :)
It happens occasionally, I'm asked to make a pedal, love it and end up making a few of them. It's happened with that, the Klone (I'd have never bothered otherwise) and the Sholicon off the top of my head.
-
who makes those? i love all the graphics
Other than the two in the top left (Subdecay Prometheus and the WMD Geiger Counter CI underneath it), they're all made by me and Cleggy (Marauder).

I don't gig so I have a little Korg plug in tuner rather than a stomp. I have been tempted to turn it into a stomp however... Just not got around to it.

I'm not so cruel to torture you with my playing. The only sample out there is one Twinfan did for Francine that features a little Sholicon action.
Found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBd2vTvBxYE&list=FLLOmLQqzUo40VDtYi2LQ_FQ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBd2vTvBxYE&list=FLLOmLQqzUo40VDtYi2LQ_FQ)
Kicks it in near the end.
Shobet has threatend to make some samples with Alice and his Murf... Not sure whether anyone (other than me who appreciates sonic chaos) is ready for that.
-
It's so scary how many we have made. I'll take a photo of all mine tomorrow.
I'll put your Dipthonizer with them.

Oh aye. Forgot I'd left that over at yours.

well if you mean sonic chaos as in Noise, I am way into it. I have a drone noise project myself and love finding new toys. I'm especially interested if youve done reverbs, and analog delays. I really want an analog delay with tap temp

Alice is probably a bit madder than that. It's entirely possibly to make it unplayable (and yet still strangely awesome).
Reverbs are tricky. A lot out there are Belton brick based, which can do a pretty good impression of a spring reverb (BYOC one that I've made is a brick, think the spring chicken is too). The best proper reverb pedals are gonna be digital though. I'm currently jonesing badly for a Neunaber WET Reverb (demo'd here by burgs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paIpgtQ9rcc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paIpgtQ9rcc)). Gonna have to find one of them somewhere...
I really like the Aquapuss when it comes to analogue delay, it's my current favourite. I'll be making the modded one when Madbean gets the boards out after xmas (double delay and modulation. I could add it to mine, but I don't want to mess with it as it's pretty nailed on).

I should collect some gear as all I really have to play with is...

It seems this thread almost died. Well, I have two new pedals and a new power supply, so I guess I'd post this one here again.
Very flexible board now, does a lot of things very nicely. The Harley Benton Overdrive is amazingly great.

My board was a real mess with cables and adapters all over the place, but I recently switched to George L DIY cables, and WOW, do they make a difference. So much extra room, i made space for 2 more pedals and 1 tiny one like an EP Booster for the future. The board itself is awesome, love what Furman did. And of course, the pedals are great too!

sorry about such a big pic... :(

Top left, Hbe powersreamer with fatboost, next right alloy finish Telenordia Kompressor which cost more than the others but can't be daisy chained with the power supply :?
Ibanez Weeping Demon wah taking up lots of room.
Left middle an old 1970's Little big muff fuzz. I bought this around '84
Left bottom a Hbe Dos Mos. It's the dogs b0llocks, so many uses.
Big ugly purple thing is a Yamaha Magic Stomp. Some effects are ok but I'd rather have some nice analogue pedals for the effects I use
-
FTE, how is that Silvermachine Wah? I saw one of the guys from Cannibal Corpse use it once, seemed quite powerful.
Sorry for a belated reply :D. The Silvermachine is really awesome. The design is solid and rugged. The controls are very flexible, one can basically get any Wah variation one wants. The sound is great. There are no disproportions in what concerns the frequencies. I used to have an Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah WD7 and a Morley Bad Horsie 2 Wah. Well, both of them IMO suck big time when compared to SM. I have already used it at the pre-production stage of my debut release, and I'm really happy with it. I don' think I'll ever change it for some other Wah.

It's an Xotic EP Booster, clean boost, with some colouration.. styled on the preamp of the old EchoPlex tape machine

I keep it on all the while

I probably don't need one. But I sort of want one, because it looks cool. :?
-
Pete, does the EP give the guitar a pretty substantial boost, or is it just a slight boost? I'm looking for a pedal that gives me a big boost in volume for solos, and this was one of the ones I was looking at.
-
And cool boards btw :D

It's a massive boost, if your amp has the headroom.

Here's mine -
-
Copper, how do you like your Patchmate? I've been thinking about getting something along the lines of that, but maybe with MIDI capabilities.
-
Patchmate has MIDI, is MIDI controllable. It's big, but very heavy duty, very nice jacks and switches. Every loop is independent, more cabling but unlimited versatility. So far, so good. This replaces a VooDoo Lab Pedal Switcher that had reliability and shielding issues.
If you wish, I can email you the pdf manual.
-
all these swanky boards have convinced me to increase my effect count. sweet.
-
Thanks, but I actually jumped on a Wobo Proglooper today, I've always loved how easy they are to use, and look pretty cool too!
-
This is my current effort. Some old and some new.
The DOD FX25B is the envelope filter I went for. Mainly because it was a hell of a lot cheaper than any others I could find, that said I actually like it. Sadly it has a little volume drop when you kick it in.
The weird looking boxes are just a channel selector i was given ages ago that happens to work with my amp, and the blue box is a loop switch I will at some point rehouse.
The mxr blue box has a switchable C11 mod and a built in 'super hard on' to boost its output.
I need to have a go at placing them in various orders. I also want to add a mean fuzz.

wow some seriously awesome stuff in this thread. Here is my current setup. always evolving, but the constants are the Moogerfooger Analog Delay, the EHX Freeze and the RC20. I used to always have a holy grail on my board, but now with the dispatch master I've since bumped it. The Fuzzes I use with my stoner doom and drone projects, otherwise for my black metal tone I go straight into my VHT Pittbull 100cl

Just finished my board. Trailer Trash board. All Pedals and power fitted with Dual Lock. All wired up using Mogami 2524 cable and HiCon cable ends. HiCons are cheaper than Neutriks but I like them much more, smaller and easier to solder.
Cost me a fortune and much much time and nerves to get it right. Sounds awesome though!

I think my pedal board is missing something
(http://i.imgur.com/kA4QyaT.jpg)
A board? (not counting floorboards!)
With regard to my own pedalboard, that is still a work in progress. I have been moving things around constantly and trying to work out where four pedals that are in the mail from ebay sellers will fit. At the moment I don't even have all of my pedals hooked up as one needs fixing (the MXR 6-band EQ), one is superfluous (the EHX Metal Muff), and one needs a longer patch cable (the Maxon OD-9). The board below is (I think!) basically how it will look in the end though, except for the MM (which will not be on there) and the 6-band will probably be somewhere slightly different but on the same end of the board. I have put the 'always on' pedals at the back of the board as much as possible, together with the tuner (which is not used when playing, obviously).
The pedals to come are an MXR Black Label Chorus, an MXR EVH Phase 90 phaser, an MXR Carbon Copy delay, and an MXR Custom Comp compressor.
The pedal order as I have it in part at the moment and as it will be be when I get the new pedals is:
Guitar>TC ELectronics Polytune>ISP Decimator G-String II>MXR CAE Boost/Linedriver>EVH Phase 90>Dunlop Crybaby From Hell>MXR Custom Comp>Maxon OD-9>MXR 6-band EQ>Peavey 6534+>MXR 10-band EQ>ISP Decimator G-String II>MXR Black Label Chorus>MXR Carbon Copy.
Of course the order of these might change as I experiment. The CAE pedal is being used as a linedriver at unity output. I plan to put the Custom Comp near the wah (those straight-ended cables will be changed for angled ones) and the 6-band EQ will go on the same row as the OD-9. The phaser will sit where the EQ is now with the chorus and delay next to it or just above it if I run out of room. There will still be an empty space somewhere on the upper left corner. If I eventually get tired enough of stepping on my cable and nearly pulling the jack out of my guitar (or other people standing on it) I might try to squeeze a Line 6 G30 relay on there somewhere. I wonder if they can be fitted underneath on the opposite side from the power supply?
-
So, my pedalboard is now complete!
The only thing I might swap out is the Maxon OD-9. I find the switch hard to engage on the fly. Even though it is not turned off much - only when playing clean passages - I'd rather have something with a more positive feeling switch. I'm going to try an MXR Custom Badass Modified O.D. in its place. That also has a couple more EQ options, like a 100Hz knob and a mid 'bump' switch.
Signal chain order:
Front end:
Dunlop Crybaby From Hell wah -> TC Electronics Polytune -> ISP Decimator G-String II -> MXR CAE Boost/ Linedriver -> Maxon OD-9 -> MXR EVH Phaser -> MXR Custom Comp
Effects loop:
MXR 10-band EQ -> ISP Decimator G-String II -> MXR EVH Flanger -> MXR Black Label Chorus -> MXR Carbon Copy

Here's my pedalboard for my most recent project ("avant garde" post-hardcore). It's simple, but between the Flashback x4 and the 2880 I can get a lot of work done sonically.
The OD11 is a solid little stomp box for base overdrive, and that Double Muff is modified to sound a little fuller harmonically (similar to JHS' mod.) Despite what people say, the 2880 can be great for live looping if you like dynamics and building up musical intensity/aggression slowly.

Can't really decide which overdrive to use, but I keep coming back to the T-Rex MAB.
Other than that, quite happy with it the collection now.

First gig with my new board tonight. Still need to tweak my knobs over the next few gigs on the Context, and flanger, as they are shiny and new.
Evidence cabling throughout was the biggest revelation so far. Wow, even my cloth eared band mates thought the guitar sounded better.

I've changed all of my cables from/to the pedals to/from the amp to angled on the pedalboard end, after I stepped on the straight connector coming out of my compressor a week ago at band practice in a crowded living room. It just pulled the cable out - I thought I was lucky to not damage the jack in my $140 Custom Comp, so went out and bought another cable. The only straight connector I have going into the board at the moment is the cable from my guitar to the wah, but that seems fairly safe and with one straight and one angled on each cable I'd rather have the angled on on top of my SG

Revamped with my Christmas additions - EHX Memory Boy and Juan Solo Klone.
Way simpler than it was mainly because the Klone does so much now... treble boost, TS, crunch (with the OD channel on my Eganter).
Might ditch the Moon Phaser too as I'm hardly using it....

My current setup - sometimes the Spitfire fuzz changes out for a Lovetone Les Lius.

Updated pedal board. I ditched an overdrive, the Tone Job tightens everything up in a very natural and subtle way.
Since I haven't been able to find a new switch for my Dunlop Wah, I'm using the GL wah now until I find one.

Don't know why, but the dog seems to like sleeping on my guitar cables. Maybe he can smell my hands on the cables? Who knows what dogs can smell! Anyway it seems uncomfortable.
You can see my Pedaltrain 2 in this pic as well

I have my home rig all wired up, preamp board and then the FX board. all works flawlessly, worked on it today, witness the results!

You have more MXR units than me!
One of your boards is doubly badass ;)

Yeah, the 77 badass OD is pretty much my favorite OD, though the green one ( a ts808 clone) comes close as it has a certain mid bark to it that other pedals don't have.
the 78 is so so, it works on certain guitars and amps and has to be clean. my tele loves it, my nailbomb ltd not so much...
