After the bridge pickup in my strat encountered a minor accident, it is only a shell of what it once was. Harmonics, sustain and heat are mostly gone. So, I'm in the market for a new pickup, but I'm having trouble choosing between a Mississippi Queen and the Sinner. I want a P90 but I'm having hell trying to say no to the thoughts of what would be the hottest pup I've ever owned. Suggestions?

Hello ( and welcome ). :)
I have no direct experience of the 'Sinner' bridge pickup - only the Mississippi Queen. I am thinking that if it was me, I would go with the'Sinner' - as the M.Q. is very nice, but not really ultra 'hot' in the context of the sort of playing I think you may be describing.
The conventional wisdom ( on the Strat with low to average output ) seems to be one Stormy Monday Humbucker in the bridge, or a VHII to match already hotter mid and neck pickups for those E.V.H. 'Frankenstrat' moments.
I would therefore save the extra work in routing out the guitar body ( or if already routed, buying and re-wiring another scratchplate ) - and just get the very potent Sinner to sit like a wolf in lamb's clothing, there in the existing bridge slot.
I hope some of the forumites with more specific Rock playing experience chime in though . :)
Of course there are a whole range of medium hot / fatter Strat pickups - like Mother's Milks e.t.c. - but again, I have never owned a B.K.P. Strat pickup.

Well, you could always go with a 'Pig-90' - a P90 wound as a Sinner. Tim can wind one in the MQs humbucker sized housing, and even whack in a ceramic magnet if you want
-
I'd have a real P-90; I'm thinking the BKP-91 would suit you down to a T; quite hot and fat but still with Strat pickup articulation.

Ah, it seems that my guitar's body is routed for humbuckers all around. Lucky me. I'd love to slap a BKP-91 or 92 in, but I wouldn't be able to fit a P-90-sized pickup in the body. :censored: A "Pig-90" sounds like a good idea, it also makes me wonder if a P-91 or 92 could be wound into the MQ housing. I'd love to give it a shot but I have money matters to consider. I can come up with MQ money, but I have no idea of what a custom job would run. Any ideas?

Shouldn't cost any extra - all BKPs are made to order anyway, so there's no hassle if you want a pickup wound differently.
Another option is the "hot MQ", which are wound up to 10K instead, so they're a tad ballsier and fatter sounding. I have some in a Tele and they sound fantastic.

That sounds great, do you have any idea of how I can contact the good folks over at Bare Knuckle in a timely manner? I live in the US and am currently lacking international call abilities =(

They usually reply to emails pretty fast, same day when I last emailed Tim.

do you have this magical man's email? I'm very excited about this new pickup and would love to hear back from him.

sales@bareknucklepickups.co.uk normally does the trick :)

aye... i emailed him yesterday morning and still nothing, the anticipation is killing me! :|

There's a lot of snow in the West Country now - the BKP chaps may not have been able to get in to work.

so, here's a little update for anyone interested. i reached tim and was able to order my pickup (with special secret modifications, of course) on friday. all that's left is the waiting =/ how long do they usually take?

I found that it varies depending on :
A) What they already have in the 'in' tray
B) Them awaiting delivery / restocks of any 'special' components needed for your order.
In the U.K. it has been anything from 48 hours - to just less than a week for me. I may just have been lucky ( four times ) - but they are great on customer service - and do whatever they reasonably can to oblige.
As mentioned before, I think the deciding factor will be the weather / postal service just now. However short the wait is - it will seem like ten times longer due to rightful anticipation ...

It's here! But how would I wire it, since I have a strat and last I recall, its insides don't look very much like the schematic, and how would i work with the braid?
also, I'm taking out my mid pickup, and have a bit of a kill switch thing going on with the neck position, so would I be able to wire it on the selector in the mid or neck position?

Do disregard that last post. It's in, finally. I think that after this one, there may no longer be a place in my world for a humbucker...
