Title: Young British "celebrity" Southern Rock fan?
Post by: Philly Q on February 15, 2009, 12:26:45 PM
It seems Lily Allen is into Molly Hatchet:

Probably NOT, in fact, but I wonder how she ended up with that T shirt?

Never heard even a comment of that band, latter will search on utube...

She asked for her dad for the oldest shirt he has, to make her look "dirty rocker"

Vintage T shirt vogue.

I saw a kid in the city wearing a Sad Wings Of Destiny shirt, I said something to him along the lines of, "Awesome shirt!" He agreed, but when I tried to discuss the album with him, it became clear that he didn't know anything about Priest, he just bought the shirt to be cool ... I walked away before the urge to beat him down became to strong.

Maybe she likes Molly Hatchet.

Maybe she does.  But I think it's unlikely.

Is there's a cover of "Flirtin' With Disaster" on her new album I'll eat humble pie (not Humble Pie).

I dunno, she seems pretty switched on in the few interviews I've seen with her, a geniune love of a fair breadth of music I thought, I certainly wouldn't sit her alongside the gamut of other current pop starlets. There's a fair chance that's not the case, but I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt.

I think it's a sad state of affairs when we assume that someone is wearing a shirt because it's cool rather than being a fan. I mean, most of my female friends into rock music certainly look like the people that buy Motorhead shirts from Topshop...I'd use my girlfriend as an example, but extreme metal shirts are a bit obscure for anyone to think it;s just to be cool

I think that's absolutely true.  :)Not to mention downright bizarre.

Was talking to a boy with a powerslave shirt the other day, who couldn't name a single song on the album...

My brother was telling me about a radio interview he heard - I can't remember the presenter or the guest, unfortunately.

Any way, the presenter was wearing a Ramones T shirt (there's one that's definitely seen as "cool", along with Motörhead!)

Guest:  "Ramones fan are you?"
Presenter:  "Oh yes, definitely"
Guest:  "So what's your favourite song?"
Presenter:  "Errr........................."

To be fair, he did apparently say he wouldn't do that again.

+1 on both points

Man, she looks a state there.

Actually, I think she looks quite tasty there...

I'm a smoker, I prefer girls when they first wake up (compared to what they look like after doing their hair and putting on the make-up), I have a thing about girl's armpits...

Ok, I'll shut up now....

Probably for the best...

I have to say, I do think Lily Allen's an extremely attractive girl (maybe not in that particular picture).  But every time I hear or read something she's said or done, I just want to strangle her...

I seem to remember a penchant for ripped Ramones t-shirts some years back amongst the "celebrity" set.

GOD I HATE THE WORD "CELEBRITY"!!!

I quite fan of Lilly Allen though...  Even got her first album.  Is that wrong?

Although I've heard the name Lily Allen, I couldn't name any 'song' she does.... however, Molly Hatchett are awesome and am gutted they didn't come to England on their last tour/cancelled that part

I once read that Lilly Allen once thought she was a minger and her music was rubbish and she only got anywhere because of daddy.

Gee, i think she was on to something...

Just watched an interview with her whilst I was making my breakfast. Seems a perfectly geniune lassie. Not the vacuous, pop-starlet-attention-seeker she seems to get lumped as.

She's quite an interesting lyricist on occasion too, to be fair to her.

Beckham has been doing this for a few years now. Motley Crue T's I think.

In defense of Lily Allen she has just had a pop at this WAG lifestyle in her latest single, which is 1,000,000 times better than the garbage on commercial radio.

Talking of her Dad Keith, did anyone watch his comic strip film 'The Yob'? Hilarious spoof of 'The Fly'. A video director and an Arsenal fan from Barnet, morph into each other. there's a load of it on youtube.

I have heard of Lilly Allen but to my knowledge I don't think I have ever heard her music. I will now have to check her out on You Tube I suppose.
