ummm...

That particular one qualifies as a "pointy guitar" for me  (ie the Japanese is welcome to keep it )

But I do kinda know what you mean :)

I'll go halves with you then? I don't like the look of the body- looks like the top of a cheap desk (with pickups on)!

I think your definition of "cool" is much different to mine, gwEm :P

the japanese fenders are super awesome. more interesting finishes on their mustang and jaguar models than you can shake a stick at.

i quite like that

but the thing is why japan gets such cool stuff - is it a massive market for the electric guitar, the wild japanese tastes, or that they are high-quality guitar producers themselves

Probably all of the above.  But it is interesting that there are so many Japanese-market-only models.  Quite a few of them would sell internationally, I think, and wouldn't infringe any Fender or Gibson trademarks.

thats because its the japanese distributors that get to say what they order.  the uk distributors rarely request models in the same way, but then we dont have the buying power of the japanese guitar market

oooo that's pretty!

take the pick guard off, gimme a floyd and a nicer piece of wood for the body, make some pinstripes out of ebony ;)

I'm quite surprised the body is made from ash, all the jackson rhoads Vs I've seen have been alder

Is that a real guitar, or a Photoshop mock-up?

I'm sure that name is completely innocent, but it sounds absolutely filthy....

Anyway, it's hideous.

I am, though, fascinated by some of those J-Rock signature models.  I'm sure playing-wise they're pretty standard, but the look is such an important aspect.   And I'm intrigued by the whole world of Visual Kei (probably got my terminology totally wrong there  ), it seems so completely alien.

That's a question that has haunted the Gretschpages too. There was a Silver Penguin and a white Electromatic Pro-Jet among others. Very cool guitars.

Japan is huge market for electric guitars and they like the odd ball stuff. I think Japan is also used as a test market.

The guitars pictured are bad, but i know what you're saying about the Japs getting exclusive versions of guitars which i drool over daily!

I would have one of those "Rhoads-meets-JEM" Circuit V Panther sig models in a heartbeat, I really would. Just for the cognitive dissonance of playing clean-toned post-punk on a guitar that looks like somebody fished it out of CC Deville's recycling bin. :)

Yeah it's something odd to see there is always special stuff made for the Japanese :japon: : guitar, CD... For instance there are so much bands who put some additional materials in their releases for a special  "japanese version" that is impossible to find or cost *$%ù!§ thousand billion $$ dollars.
Awful !   :gib:

Anyway the Rhoads is one of my favorite guitar. Angular ? Yes (moderately) but also very high class and confortable to play. Nevertheless I'm not keen on this japanese version...Don't like the ash looking and don't fancy that maple neck w/ black inlays

If you don't intend to go for a US model I think the RR5 (very classic Rhoads looking) is the best option AND the fixed bridge design is stunning and that guitar.

Yeah I know.....me too

But I think you can get a black hardware set from directly from Jackson, without too much problems, and for an affordable price, and then.......you'll be there !

You can, however you have to have a floyd rose on it.

It's called the RR5FR

Jackson also have a custom shop that will build you what you want, at a cost. They used to have a habit of getting the specs a bit wrong on occasion though...
