I've been really amazed at some of the low cost phrase training software around, and it keeps getting better.
As far as I can tell this has just been released

I found the phrase trainer option on Line 6 Gear Box works pretty well. Not really had experience with anything else.

I like the speeding up function. I could do that and practice the tracks we play so that it isn't such a pain when our drummer does it.

I've never really looked into a phase trainer. So from what i saw there, it's basically a program that plays what ever mp3 etc you want, can slow it down, change pitch etc so you can learn it easier?
Have i got that right? Or is it more than that?

Actually, that one's only £9.99, is that a good price? Or are there better ones out there for free etc?

I only looked at the hardware solutions for that kind of features.
The Tascam MP GT1 is one reference, as well as the Zoom H4N I choosed and which has the same functions, (time stretch / pitch / center cancel) but also working as a 4 track recorder.
As a mix of an hardware / software solution there is also the JamVox. The GTX function seem to be interesting, but nothing better than the previous named and the software you mentionned, I suppose.

However (whisper this quiet) I'm one of the guitarists who has learnt that although the drummer speeds up, it's often to keep up with the guitarists he can't slow down!
Try recording a rhythm track on a fast/medium-pacer, with the guitar that you're playing set way too loud in the monitors/headphones mix - half-way through the song the guitarist can be as much as a beat ahead!!
When we figured this out in my last band, we started rehearsing to a click track. To our eternal shame, we found that the drummer (who we'd all been blaming) could do it easily, but the guitarists couldn't! We persevered, and conquered it, and became loads tighter and more powerful live - but he never let us forget it.
(Don't tell your drummers about this though :lol:)

Those JamVox look pretty interesting and good value for money seen as you get a little practice amp as well.
Anyone got one? Are they worth buying? First time i've used a phase trainer (the demo version of the thread starter) and i really like it!

I liked the programme for the sheer ease of use and I might download it too. As for my drummer, Andy you are being too kind-it is definitely him.He gets excited and plays faster-I have the evidence a hundred times over. He was banned from counting songs in years ago.
