I am impressed and feel GAS rising (price is 899): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1B6WqXzQk8

It's cute, shame they still managed to cram two channels and millions of little "mode" switches unto it though. Keep it simple!

I tend to agree. But then one guy might like the Vox flavour more in Ch 1, another prefers the Plexi flavour. I would go for setting it to Mode 1 in Ch1 and Mode 2 in Ch2, what would you do?
-
Oh yeah, nothing wrong with versatility, but it makes life more complicated for dolts like me.
I really liked what he called the Top Boost mode on Ch1 and the Tweed mode on Ch2. I wasn't so keen on the hottest setting on Ch2. But I would go for whatever made me sound least bad.
-
This I one of the first low wattage amps thats got me interested. Looks really cool. Just a shame they didnt put the tweed setting on channel 1 and the vox on channel 2. But I will deffinately be checking this out.

$899 so that'll be £899 when it gets here
-
I quite like that. The lack of control has always put me off the other toasters I've seen. The blue back light is cool too :)
-
That looks very interesting though like Philly, I think it might be beyond me but a great package.
-
That looks interesting. Plus it has blue lights!

Don't be silly.
It'll be be £950 at least.

I expect £799 street or less.
-
sounded like it'll be nice from those clips. personally I'd have kept it simple, but (as always) Mesa have tried to make it all things to all people. I understand why they do that (to maximise sales and appeal), but there is always a tradeoff when you overcomplicate things.
-
Looks very useful to me.
I have a Lonestar Special and love the fact that I can go between 5, 15,30 and 35 watts. Makes it a really versatile amp for studio and gigging.
Its just too big though! Lol
I have the 2x12 version and so this new 'little' head could be great. I'll have to go try one out when they get released over here.
-
It's £1000 over here. Hahaha.

Well let's forget about it then. Anyways I heard some guys, who played it on NAMM, saying that it was rather flat and uninspiring. I'm more the 100W amp kind of guy anyways

£1099!! (http://www.dv247.com/guitars/mesa-boogie-transatlantic-ta-15-guitar-amplifier-head--71258)

899.00 USD = 554.857 GBP, so it's twice the price in the UK
-
What is it with companies like Mesa and Carvin charging much more for UK customers?
Get f**ked!
-
... Are they making the 'mesa' logo out of a unicorn's horn these days or what? Don't see many of these selling...

* shipping from US to UK
* import duty
* profit margin added by UK distributor
* profit margin added by shop
Mesa gear over here is crazy-expensive for what it is.
-
If it was around £700 I would have taken a look but over a grand is stupid money for an amp like that. however they might just be cashing in on the fact its just been released and the price may fall..... hopefully.

Yeah, all of the above. Same reason as why you can import a PRS cheaper than any UK retailer can buy the same model.
-
It seems the distributors take a really large chunk. I remember when Gibson went to direct distribution in Germany, Gibson prices dropped a lot!
-
Well, we can get Marshall, Engl, Diezel, Orange, etc cheap here in Europe, but Soldanos, Mesas, Suhrs etc are very much $$$$$ over here ...
-
I can see the appeal of distributors from the manufacturer's point of view - a single order for each country, meaning less administrative costs AND they can hold the distributor the ransom and stipulate that they must order the entire product range. All this means to the customer is they get less amp for their money.
-
It does look nice and compact. Very light by the looks of things.
