A couple of months after buying it, the knackered old SG I bought has just come back from having a new nut fitted and is ready for gigging :D
It's as light as a feather, has that classic open-airy-yet-punchy SG tone, and feels fantastic. I can't wait to gig it next month!
The final spec is:
* 1965 SG that has had both a headstock break and a body/neck joint repair
* All original parts stripped before I got it and replaced with pattern parts
I wasn't happy with the spec of it (and I bought it as a project) so it now has:
* CTS pots, Switchcraft jack, Orange Drop caps, unbranded 3-way selector (all on the guitar when I bought it)
* Throbak PAFs
* Aged TonePros locking ABR-1 bridge
* Aged lightweight RS Guitarworks tailpiece and studs
* Aged double ring Kluson tuners and adapter bushings
* Tusq nut
* Montreux aged scratchplate and pickup rings
* Re-fretted with Stewart Mac-Donald 150 Jumbo frets
* Nickel Schaller straplocks

And the obligatory pic ;)

That looks awesome! As I've said before this is the guitar that I like the look of the most out of your stable. Those Throbak PAF's sound very nice, very Angus Young!
Congrats on getting the guitar gig-ready. Can't wait to hear about how you get on gigging with it.

+1 on the coolest guitar... on the forum for me at least. Nice one Dave. 8)
-
Thats sounds great mate - very nice indeed.
Is that an OCD I see on the floor? Didn't know you had one of those.
-
Bloody hell mate, well spotted! :lol:
Yep, I bought it off Martin a couple of months ago. I use it at home to add a touch of juice into my M45 for home practice. Makes it sound a bit more 'cranked'. I really like it, it seems to suit that job :)

Cheers Don - you'll have to try it out sometime!
-
Nice clip! It's quite a percussive, spanky sort of sound - or is that more the amp?
-
More my playing I think Phil! I play quite hard and rattle the strings!

It's a great pedal - I used to run one in front of the Lionheart, it added much needed juice into it's drive channel!

Wow, I really like this guitar. Should I be hypothetically burgling Twinfan Acres I'd have a hard job choosing between Francine and Pearly ;). Great clip too, the guitar really suits the way you play by which I mean SGs always seem best suited to those who hit the guitar pretty hard. I am envious (again). :) Thanks for uploading the video, it's always good to hear what the other forum folks sound like.

Cheers Andrew - wish that G hadn't gone out of tune so darn quick! New strings - doh!
-
Oh, and I'd grab Pearly every time if I was burgling myself ;)
-
Right. That's it, I definitely need a HB guitar at some point in the future. I've played a few through the deluxe and they sound soooo nice. Single coils are great in it too - just not as beefy.

mmm love the amp and the guitar...acdc heaven
-
Looks great and sounds even better :D I'm still loving my SG, dunno whether to bother with Riff Raffs for it though as the Gibsons really did perform well at the last gig I did with em!

Definitely a bargain. When you both enter the realm of Cranksville, you will be the Lord of all around.
