This is one stupid post, but I just can't help myself and have to ask.
Women are notorious for buying A LOT of shoes and supposedly guys don't really get this fettish. So the question is: How many of you guys' guitar collection outnumber your shoe collection?
Mine certainly doesn't. I own a lot more shoes than I own guitars (you can call me metro sexual if you want :D).
-
This sounds like an argument between my other half and myself :P
For me, more guitars.
-
I'd say I have about 6 times as many guitars as shoes (that's counting a pair of shoes as "one", of course).
-
I'm about the same as Philly...
(As long as I'm allowed to count the following as "shoes":
- 1 pair of walking boots
- 1 pair of 15 year-old trainers with holes in the bottom
- 1 pair of slippers with holes all over them
If I can't count these as "shoes", then I have at least 10 times as many guitars as pairs of shoes )
-
Men don't get the shoe fetish? Hmm, I beg to differ! ;)
-
I actually have quite a lot of shoes, but that's mainly because I'm a terrible hoarder who doesn't throw things away once they're worn out (with the amount of clothes & shoes I've kept on the basis that "they'll be good for gardening or painting", you'd think I spent my life doing those things...).
Either way it's still some way short of the number of guitars I own... :)

I think me and Jonathan do. Albiet not shoes I'd wear.
I've got an equal number of pairs of shoes and guitars. Four.
-
I only count myself as having 1 guitar, although that's not counting the acoustic or the gig backup ibanez (which now has the black dog in but I didn't even test it to make sure I'd wired it properly :D).
So definitely more shoes, but only by virtue of me not having guitar-AS.

I've probably got 5 times more guitars than shoes.. Most of my shoes are cycling shoes too.
Basically my go-to shoes are Doc Marten boots or Rebook Classic trainers.
Cycling shoewise I have three pairs I really like - some very very cool red SiDI, Exustar commuter shoes and some Northface sandals.
But yeah, guitars are better than shoes! I'm not really a shoes guy
-
Err, 9 pairs of shoes and 8 guitars

You should change your name to "Shoefan".
(I know, I know, that doesn't really make sense given the origin of "Twinfan")
-
3 times more guitars
-
4 guitars, 4 pairs of shoes!
-
If you include sports shoes then definitely more shoes. 10 pairs I think, and my guitar collection's a bit dire at the moment. 1 playable
-
I'm glad that this silly topic caught on. And like I guessed some of you guys actually do own a lot more guitars than shoes :D

Guess my own guitar's inlays give the game away on that front

But death to flip flops and ugly shoes!
I probably have as many shoes as guitars but I have many guitars to be honest
-
7 guitars & 6 shoes
-
4 pairs of shoes, 8 guitars.
-
I'm a bit of a hoarder too, I've got about 4 pairs of boots that are all knackered with holes, muddy festival boots, 2 pairs of dress shoes, knee high newrocks I used to wear for metal nights, tend to stick to my converse but they are on their way out so I'll get another pair soon.
One thing I do have a thing for is jackets!!! (er buying one tomorrow)
-
Maybe, but only because I still have shoes that I dont wear any more still kicking around
baddum tsshh
I have 4 main electrics, 1 thats good enough to be a main guitar but its not wired up at the moment and I dont like the scale (24.75 ewwwww), 1 bass, 1 acoustic and 1 tat guitar
Anywho, yeah, I think they do, but I have 2 functional pairs of shoes - one main pair that I wear 99.9% of the time (basic decent quality walking shoes) and one pair of smart shoes.
So its either about equal or 4:1
I should bin the other shoes, thanks for the reminder.

I loose this game I think... or do i win?
I'm only in this situation because I never throw anything away! I like to have a few pairs of footwears that i can not care about... you know... paddle in the sea at brighton while wearing or something...
Guitar
Les Paul Custom
EC-1000 (for sale!)

Nike Air Max Lights (Blue/Grey man made materials. A poors mans Air Max 1)

-
Guitars:
Patrick Eggle
Tanglewood Acoustic
Cigar Box Guitar (or more acurately.... Suitcase Guitar)
Shoes:
Quite a few as the wife occassionally buys me some to try and mask the fact that she buys bloody loads of them.
-
just to check, as i'm rubbish at chucking stuff out, old shoes don't count, right? Certainly if we're counting new(ish) shoes that are in current rotation, i have way more guitars
-
My girlfriend says I don't need to have 5 guitars with only 2 hands to play them.
She has over 50 pairs of shoes and 2 feet
-
I have more guitars (10 or so) than pairs of shoes (4).
I don't mind ladies buying shoes, at least not pretty ones. It is the handbag obsession that I do not get.
-
FWIW, I did a count & can confirm that I'm on the "right" side of this crucial equation:
Guitars=28, Shoes=17
-

When we sold our MG Midget, we made £120 profit. To make herself feel better she bought a hangbag for about £150 and a matching purse for another £50 or so. Sometimes I wonder.......... Oh yeah, she bought herself a bag to go with the car when we first got it.
-
Antag you are out of contest.
Ok now bkpickups vs shoes or guitars ?

Depends how you define BKPs. If we are talking how many guitars we have BKPs in, I'm still OK: 20
If we count calibrated sets as one, I'm comfortably OK: 28 (or 30 depending on whether you define non-standard HSS sets as one or two)
If you're asking how many individual BKPs, not even close: 42

Do they put handbags inside other handbags? You know it's bad then.
Or they have a designer one that's so pretty it's never left the house.
Anyone else got a thing for jackets, I might have bought a new one today. :D
-
6 pairs of shoes - 8 electrics and 3 acoustics. Phew, I thought I was getting all girly when I counted up the shoes.
-
I have more guitars than shoes (but I still have a lot of pairs of shoes).

You have more guitars than Paris Hilton has shoes!

My small but naughty wife once wanted me to design dates on behalf of her handbags.
I am a pretty easy-going guy but I drew the line at that.

Update on my situation: I apparently have more guitars than my wife has shoes and handbags put together...
She tells me that boots is another matter - I pointed out that this would mean "more shoes" in this thread... but apparently not - "ask any woman, shoes and boots are different things"
Apparently trainers/etc don't count as shoes either...
hmm...
In that case, I have 20 times as many guitars as shoes...
-
Shoes, boots, trainers, slippers, sandals... ... Who can tell the difference? :D
-
Four pairs of shoes (if motorcycle boots included?) 20 guitars, make that 19 I gave my Manson Hawk to my son for his eighth birthday, 9 have BKP sets, 2 more sets to be fitted.
-
1 pair of Timberlands. 1 pair of Caterpiller steel toe boots for work. A pair of Sandals.
6 electrics and 2 Acoustics.
-
I have More Guitars than shoes, probably more guitars than wife's shoes. Definitely not more guitars than daughters or mothers shoes. Unfortunately she inherited my mothers love of shoes, rather than my love of guitars.

Hiking boots, Timberlands, Smart shoes, not so smarts shoes, 1 pair Adidas and a pair of skate shoes that I spend 90% of my time in. Oh, and slippers.
More guitars.
I'm obviously a single bloke!
