Hi All ! I'm new to the forum and new to the BKP pickups so i'll appreciate any suggestions with my first set  i'll be changin' SD blackouts in mahogany Schecter (B-tuned) need something fresh - versatile set for metal, definitely not screaming tone nor too bassy one, also with super high gain amp i don't need super high gain pickup. so... nailbomb bridge? cold sweet for neck? (this only from my web research)
heh one noob question: pickup cover lowers the output level?
-
Nailbomb should do. Cold sweat is a good choice for the neck, I reckon.
-
Is the alnico Nailbomb tight enough for metal in B-tuning? Maybe a Cold Sweat set so you get the tightness of a ceramic in the bridge.
-
cold sweat set
-
Cold sweat bridges scream banshee on crack. Maybe not so much in B and with mahogany, but that depends on the neck wood and the shape of the guitar and what kind of bridge as well.
The neck doesnt though, its smooth with more 'chime' than 'scream'
Nailbomb bridge CS neck is what I'd recommend.

+1 to NB Bridge.
Quote from TIm in an email to me;
personally I think the NB is really good on low tunings and extended
range as it really retains alot of clarity on the low notes.
I have one in a Basswood Ibanez 7 and its great!

That's a FAST response! Thank You All :) i'm searching this forum, but lots of great PU's cause my confusion
Hey MDV, my axe has maple set neck with tonepros fixed bridge and 26,5 scale, Schecter C-1 shape, ...hope NB will be little less hot than BO's
and about NB ceramic vs Alnico - I like EMG-85 in the bridge better than the 81 so NB alnico?
-
how about a riff raff?

Quite welcome.
Well, with your new information
The maple neck is going to provide most of the acoustic sound of the guitar. Its a common misconception that the body wood is the most important because theres more of it. Whats most important is whats in line with, directly under, the strings. In 'maple neck mahogany body' guitars what I've generally experience and come to think of as a guide is a guitar with a somewhat bigger bass and mid response than say, maple/alder or maple/basswood, but not drastically. The tonepros is cool, balanced, doesnt change the game - I was just making sure you didnt have a double locking, which would be a different story, as it would make the guitar considerably brighter. (Maple neck + double locking trem and I'd have changed to holy diver)
Add to that the scale, which will (or generally would, all things being equal) lead to more high frequency harmonics propogating on the string and a thinner string again leading to more mids and highs in the sound and I would certainly warn you off the cold sweat if you dont want it to 'scream'. (it would satisfy your bass requirements, however).
The nailbomb is a fair bit less hot than a blackout. I recently had a set of blackouts in a guitar that I currently have a C-Bomb in. They arent universes apart, but the c-bomb is definitely conisderably less hot, so the A-bomb will be 'cooler' still. I'd guess, subjectively, 30% less 'hotness'/'output'

Can someone tell me, in order, the "hotness" of the Cold Sweat, Miracle Man, and Nail Bobmb??? Also, isn't the Miracle Man like a hotter Cold Sweat, so would that suit his needs?
I'm wondering about this for me as well.

Miracle man
Nailbomb
Cold sweat
Descending order
The MM would run the risk if being either/both too screamy and too bassy.

we finally agree at something

All this talk about the greatness that is the Cold Sweat neck... But isn't the Miralc Man essentially the same but with more output?

I know, its weird isnt it!
Shred, no it isnt. They're voiced differently.

I'm a little scarred now... Maybe I should go with ceramic nailbomb bridge - Ben from BKP suggested it. I hope it's not mid-scooped? Any experience with this one?

I would say the CS is slightly hotter than the NB

I would say the CS is slightly hotter than the NB
it has more treble and upper mid bite
the nailbomb felt just as aggressive, but louder, fatter and pushed my amps at least just as hard
