Title: Which Bare Knuckle Pickups would you avoid in a Sl-2H Soloist?
Post by: Js90lx on June 27, 2011, 05:18:22 AM: Since this a bright guitar which pickups would you avoid? I have heard stay away from the Cold Sweats. What others from any of the lines vintage, contemporary etc.? Has anyone had any experience with a pickup they did not like in this wood combo or specific guitar? Alder wings, maple neck through, and ebony board.

I have found that the Miracle man works well if looking for a tight old school metal sound
Also A Holy Diver would be good for a fatter more organic tone

Post by: Telerocker on June 27, 2011, 11:17:27 PM: Pickups that work well in this woodcombi are I think: Warpig, Aftermath, Holy Diver, Crawler, Abraxas, Black Dog, VHII. Different puppies, so it depends at the tone you are after.

If I wanted a pickup to compliment a bright guitar I would not choose anything too bright or too little power. In the BKP line the vintage models would not be the first choice, as would be the Cold Sweat and Rebel Yell. On the other hand a bright pickup could serve well if you wanted to accent that frequency range with that particular guitar.
