Well, at the time of typing I got this late yersterday evening, but still! :P
Anyway, I don't really post stuff like this a lot, and probably wouldn't have done if the cab was what I initially thought it was regarding the year it was made .etc, as it has been seen before, albeit with limited information.
Anyway, I wanted to replace my 2x12 with a simple 4x12 to match my red Jubilee head, and decided upon a Marshall 1960a, having owned a 2061CX 2x12 before and liking it quite a bit. I sold it however as it sadly was just a tad too small width wise, pity really as other than that it rocked.
I had seen somoene selling a brand new red 1960a on eBay, in which on Monday night I agreed a deal with the seller. He came over to deliver it to me late yesterday, superb to deal with.

Anyway, this is where things got interesting, or surprising for me. You see I originally thought that since it was mentioned as being a special order, I thought it was one of those 1960a's Marshall did in around 1995 or so when they made a special run of JCM 800 2203 heads in red with matching cabinets. So if that was so I wouldn't have posted as there is already information on the net about that, albeit not much I'll admit.
This where I got surprised, as the seller told me that this cab along with a few other red 1960's were a special order for his shop from Marshall, where they got 6 and sold 2 off, one of them being to me. While this probably isn't the most interesting thing to talk about and read, I just thought I'd try and help by shedding a bit more information about some of the less common variations Marshall occassionally seem to make of their stuff. That, and the fact you gotta love a bit of red! :P
I'm looking forward to testing it, even though it comes with G12T 75 speakers which many seem to dislike, we'll see what happens, it might work given the Jubilee is a darker voiced amp, but we'll see.

I always felt that red looks good on Marshalls and should have been more widely used.
The T75 speakers.... yeah. Not my cup of tea. But you wouldn't have to replace all four in case you don't like them, their low end is actually quite stable and useful, just the mids and top end lack IMO. Two V30s are a popular combination. Most likely you'll need the 16 ohm ones.

+1, red is awesome. also purple.

Thanks, you can't beat a bit of red!
I was able to try it out today, and a pleasant surprise, I like the sound this cab gives a lot! The 75's seem to go rather nicely with my Jubilee set up. I may to experiment throw two rola G12 65's I have from 1979 to mix in with them at some point. Looking at the specs it might work quite nicely, but I'll see for myself if I decide to do so at some point.
Either way, I'm happy now, my amp setup feels just right at the moment with a nice amount of options for expansion.
I may as well show a setup picture, along with my two most recent guitar purchases to cover the recent new guitar days too, which I am fully happy with now.

Now a red 1960b and one of those red JCM 800's they did would be nice to add, but I cannot expect to get those just like that! :P

Just get a standard one and send the headshell off to be tolexed in red

Nice! Red is cool. Did your Jubilee start life as a combo.... 2554 or 2558? Looking good in a head box. If you do change out speakers try V30's as they work well with the jubilee anyway, and I think Bogner use a 75's/ V30 in X pattern which get great reviews.

Thanks! It used to be 2554 combo. It had been changed to a head when I purchased it, however it was not in a very pretty head box so I got Martin of MJW amps to make me a new one for it in red and now it looks fine for my liking.

I might just do that at some point, not yet though as I've pretty much depleted my money supply at the moment!

An update, I've now got the cab fully satisfying to my liking.

Decided to pair the 2 Rola G12 65's I had lying around with the remaining two 75's and mix them in an X pattern. After a bit of playing, the initial praise of the 75's wore off a bit, they have good bass, but just sounded a bit too harsh and shrill in the mids and highs, and since the 65's are darker, with more mids, less and smoother highs I felt it would work, even though it is a combination that isn't really as widely talked about on the net.
The result so far is nicely satisfying. Great balance all round and a nice rounded sound that rocks very well. It really has got rid of those scooped mids and dry slightly sterile highs. Since they are the same sensitivity (97dB), I can hear charactistics of both of them coming together well. I've only tested it through the Jubilee I have that will be sold soon, however since it worked well I definitely cannot wait to get my hands on a 2550 head, although that may be a while. I am however getting another Marshall head in this coming week, so I'm looking forward to this combination with it, I am sure that it will be good, chances are this is the speaker combo I'll be using all the time.
As a whole, the G12T 75/G12 65 mix gets a thumbs up from me!
