he's probably using a budget courier - they won't insure guitars for full value (or anywhere near that), some cap damage at £50.00 and you take your chances.
Royal Mail/Parcelforce may be expensive, but they will insure for full cost.

Agreed with the above. Might be worth suggesting to him another courier that you know will provide that cover. Last few guitars I have sent have been fine - just can't remember the name of the courier! I know Philly Q uses couriers a lot and he recommended the people I use. He might post some info on here if he sees this.

if its less than £150. they will happily sell you cover for more, but the T&C's clearly say an instrument wont be covered for more than £150 and has to be in an appropriate hardcase for that

here it is, no enhanced compensation so its just the standard which is about £100-150 depending on service.
