Jem in SEA FOAM GREEN! :P

25th Anniversary Sabre - love it but don't like coloured dots at all :(

Squier Jim Root Telecaster = Serious FUN

Charvel Stars are back! http://charvel.com/en-GB/guitars/?section=desolation&bodyShape=Star

Brings back good memories of my JEM FP77 I had in the early nineties. Served me long time, until I went back to the roots: tele and strat.
-
No potential purchases for me there, but I do think the Jem looks brilliant in that colour combination!
Is pearloid making a welcome comeback?
-

^ +1
I'm sure there will be plenty of other stuff though - step away from the credit card

Not formally announced yet, but the non-Private Stock PRS Signature Limited is coming. 200 guitars, 15 for the UK and around £4k for us. I'm waiting to hear if it has a rosewood neck rather than the mahogany of my PS models. If it does, I'm in.

^^^^^^ Oh hell yes!
Other than that, the Squier Jim Root Tele looks like a good bid for a "Bash-around-on-tour-and-don't-cry-if-some-shady-eastern-europeans-steal-it" guitar.

If you are into Stars, I thought this was pretty cool, for a Star.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_tNu78SMKH6I/S-_zGN4agvI/AAAAAAAADS8/LjmaD2Q_OvQ/s1600/esp+george+lynch+kamikaze+star.jpg
tried posting it, but its kinda too big to fit on the screen.

New b.c. rich \m/

I've read some where that PRS are releasing a 7 string. Not too sure if it's american or an SE model.

maybe this is the most interesting. looks alot more substantial than current solutions
edit:
I also see Squier is bringing out some 70s flavoured strats, and some with lipstick coils - very cool
I also see there are some interesting DJ and mixer apps for iPad coming out
-
Where are you guys finding all this info?
Individual manufacturers' sites, or is there a super NAMM news resource somewhere?

Looks okay but still uses the cr@ppy host A to D's though I think. Unless I'm missing something you could just use an Irig and true bypass box? Not sure I fancy taking an ipad to gigs though!
I've just got he Apogee Jam, more expensive but sounds great. Only problem you can't use it with amplitube...
The strats look cool
-
Loving the look of those Strats - especially the Blackmoreish one. Needs a maple board though!
-
Loving pretty much all the LTD 7s, and I quite like the Jeff Hanneman Eclipses too

Those star shaped guitars all look horrible....
That monkey grip has always ruined JEM for me. A friend had one of those and everybody who did not know Steve Vai always made jokes that the grip is there for throwing the guitar away...
I like the top red LTD 7-string though.
-
i dunno if this is a new blacktop for namm but i like it

shame they dont offer many interesting colours

^ that came out last year mate. It had good reviews in Guitarist. I'd still go for a Charvel Pro Mod though

I'm no big fan of matching headstocks on strats either, but apart from that little detail it looks maghty tasty. The same with the gold Squire strat.

Most exciting thing so far is an old looking strat?
Not that there is anything wrong with a vintage strat - just if it is the height of excitement it's a bit worrying.
Surely not the best on offer....unless it's really dull this year :(

I think it is a bit dull, yes.

Well, it's the most exciting for me! Maybe not anyone else.
There may be all sorts of exciting developments on the amps and FX front, but I pay less attention to that.
I couldn't say if the whole thing is inherently dull, all those superstratty things look OK.... though hardly anything new there either. Personally, I'd like to see Ibanez go back a bit further into their history and properly re-issue some older, original models like Artists, Destroyers and Rocket Rolls (and Icemen for Jon!).
Bring back the early '80s! :P
Going off topic a bit, today I was trawling some manufacturers' websites I don't normally visit - Ibanez, Dean, Schecter, Fernandes..... I realised that those companies have almost nothing in their entire ranges which appeal to me in the slightest. Never really struck me before. :?
-
I'm fully loving Fender's Pawnshop Amps.
http://www.fender.com/products/pawnshopamps#PSA-excelsior
A bit silly and obviously style-over-content, but rrp-wise the Excelsior looks like a bit of a deal, and being low wattage and having a 15" speaker, right up my alley.

I wish the AW-7 had a maple board, but other than that I'm really wanting one.
I hear the bottom one will have passive pickups too.

That last BC Rich needs more switches.
-
It's interesting that BC Rich are going back to the late '70s/early '80s and reintroducing all the complex switching options. I think they're far too complicated, but it does look right on those guitars! :D
Presumably the ones with "R" logo headstocks are expensive US models?

And now I just sold a Gretsch White Penguin for being too blingy, the Gretsch custom shop presents this at the NAMM:

It's the Ibanez hollow and semi-hollow guitars I'm most interested in; unfortunately the AM models only seem to be available in the USA, or I'd definitely be after one.

Loving those Fender amps. GAS!

Re-vamped PRS Nick Catanese SE! :D
No "ET" logo on the body, no red binding.... it's just queue-jumped the Fredrik Akesson SE for me....

I'm not a PRS fan but if I every were to want one it would be the White Navarro and it's nice to see an SE version finally!

Nope.

It is pretty much spot on! The ebony board is the key feature, I'd just about settled for the Akesson (almost bought one this week, in fact) but I prefer the single volume and tone setup of the Catanese. It will be mine. :D
The Navarro SE looks pretty cool as well.
It seems they're getting rid of some of the "quirky" features of the signature models, which should improve sales - no silly body art on the Catanese, a more vanilla colour for the Orianthi, no third pickup on the Henderson. All good, IMO. :)

I've actually never tried EMGs. I just don't like the look of them. Good to see a nice plan fretboard on this model as well - looks nice and minimalistic. I've now seen 2 PRS today that I really like and have GAS for!
-
Interesting amps: Two Rock Exeo 15 watts, Toneking Falcon combo 12 watts, Fender Pawnshop amps Excelsior and Greta. Carr comes with a 45 watt EL34 amp with low/highgainswitch, 65 Amps launches the 28 watt EL34 Producer-head and the 20 watt 6V6 Ventura-head.
-
The falcon looks nice. I love those old school aesthetics. Like the old WEM's and stuff. TV fronts.

I'd like them more if the fathers offered were more up to date whilst keeping the retro look:
An accordion input won't get much use......
Tremolo ? I'd rather have a tone stack....

The accordeon input is an old Ampeg thing. It's actually just an input designed for other instruments and high output or active pickups.

Wouldn't mind going again and Southern California in Jan can seem warm and sunny compared to an often chilly UK

so this new vht (so axl, in other words) 12/20 watter might be nice. though i'm guessing it might be too dear :(

aah the Natas. Thats not new for Namm though. Still a cool head. Some of the controls were a source of debate, being that there was a accusation they were taken from the Larry amps (or one of the Larry amps). Namely the 'girth' and 'grind' controls, but they allegedly come from an old Garnet tone circuit.
Still, does mixed output valves and all kinds of crazy things. Mike Fortin knows his stuff.

Yeah, I know it isn't new, but I saw it in Ola Englund's NAMM video for this year and thought it would be good to express how I wish I had the coin for it. I agree, Fortin pretty experienced.
-
aaah. I think I might have seen an older video of his with the Natas. I've seen the Hulk Mod videos which I think were the starting point of the Natas and they sound pretty heavy. I think the video if a JCM800 with a hulk mod, which is meant to be a comprehensive rebuild rather than a mod to the existing circuit. Sounds huge. As does the Natas. I really like the concept of the Bones personally.
That Engl is pretty interesing. I'd also like a go on a Diezel Hagen.
-
I could do with that blue matching headstock strat - it would be in good company at home...
-
Lovely stuff Elliot. Lovely.
-
Hoho, you've got the Ultimate attenuator to tame that Supersonic. Cool. So are the strats!
-

:o I didn't know you had two matching headstock Strats (or if I did, I'd forgotten... )
Magnificent! :D
Are they both recent models? I see they have the two-point trem with bent steel saddles.

That Engl sounds nice. I wonder what it's based on. The first channels sounds alot like a Vox, second channel has alot of Marshall Super Lead going on.
Nice to see Engl doing more vintage sounding stuff. I love my Classic Tube.
I think they should also make a 50 Watt combo version of that Retro Tube.

These are interesting... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y6I3suK_Y4&feature=relmfu
Joe Bonamassa signature PAFs - I wonder what they're doing different to the other PAFs that Duncan have in their range. Joe is tone hound, so these are likely a nice set of pickups. Does anyone know if he's had BKPs to try out?

maybe they have anti-gurning technology built-in.

That looks pretty fancy. It is a Natas though, or am I wrong? Natas is Satan spelled backwards.
No, you are right. It is NATAS. I think this one is a special make and isn't available. I would rather have the regular version in all black instead of the face plate being red.
I recently contacted Mark Fortin, and asked him about doing the Hulk mod to my 2203. Sadly, he doesn't do this any more and the NATAS pretty much covers it. So as it is, its save up the coin painstakingly slow, get a record label to help finance it. Either way . One day, one day... I really like the amp.

This is the one I saw in Ola Englund's 2012 NAMM video, sorry about that earlier post.

That is actually Ola Englunds custom amp.
Ill try and find some pictures.
On the back it says made for Ola Englund

Yeah, it a very poor representation of that head. If you go to youtube, and check out Ola Englunds videos (fearedse), you'll see some really good quality demos of all kinds of amps. Although its metal.
Really, I posted to show the head. My apologies to subjecting you to that.
-
There is a new Jim Root Signature amp coming out from Orange, which looks a lot like the Dark Terror, but is based on the Rockerverb (not the Thunder) and has a proper EQ!

Looks very promising. I hope the price tag won't be too much higher than the Dark Terror.

I'm sure the recording isn't great. I'm not really into that style of playing either. I've heard the Natas and bunch of stuff leading up to the Natas. It's pretty impressive. So tricks in those amp's I'd like to try sometime.

Don't know which you like but that might be my perfect Tele! (I'd repaint it seafoam green)
-
Really liked all 3 of those, agree with you on that Tele Dave (although not the paint).
-
Nice tele and I like the Flatroc too.

It's nice, but I didn't think there was anything particularly radical about the features - a phase switch is easily done, and you can get the compound radius, chambered body and contoured heel from Warmoth! :P

Very true and that's the way I'd like to go, but that would be much more than the price I expect these to go for...
(unless you've got someting under the bed to sell me?)

Not at the moment, but I may be doing some more "down-sizing" in the weeks to come.....
-
New Evil Robot! :D

What might you be pondering to let go? A Philly downsize always seems to bring up something interesting.
And by the way I like all three reverends, especialy the tele.

Lord knows - probably a couple of necks, a couple of bodies, Teles and/or Strats. Can't be more specific than that really!

With all the stuff you have under your bed and crammed into every nook and cranny this sounds like a "light trimming" rather than a "downsizing"
:D
-
You could be right, Ian..... but maybe a few light trims will add up to a downsize eventually?!
(Although, like hair, the collection under the bed will insist on growing.... :? )

Resuscitating this thread after a couple of weeks.....
I didn't see this mentioned on the NAMM coverage, but I'm liking it! Even the three knobs look OK in this setting, I think.

The Bugera Magician really caught my eye ;)
The Trirec also looks a good product to try to. I'd really like to see the efficiancy of their new Infinium Technology.

Re-vamped PRS Nick Catanese SE! :D
No "ET" logo on the body, no red binding.... it's just queue-jumped the Fredrik Akesson SE for me....

OMG, what's the name of that colour, if you know? I'v been trying to track it down for ages as I want it for my guitar, but never found it. It's a gorgeous colour
-
PRS just call it "Scarlet Red".
Here's a picture of the real thing - it actually has chrome (or maybe nickel?) covers on the EMGs.

The Holdsworth HH2 from Carvin looks interesting to me. I'd like to feel what a 20 inch radius is like to play. Also the Eric Johnson Eminence speakers caught my eye, along with the new Celestion Creamback.
-
Thanks for that Philly.

And I'm really interested in trying a 20" Radius too. I may try and see if I can find a MM JP XI or 12 when I'm down London

It was mentioned in a couple of DG interviews, but not the details on availability.
I think it's a lot of cash at £2250 when you can get a lightly used maple top DGT for around £1400. Used PRS values have gone through the floor recently, and there's a LOT of choice out there for £1000 - £1400...
-
Being unusually thrifty there Dave!
But you're right about secondhand PRS prices. I just liked the look of this one because it's essentially a Standard, and you don't see too many of those on eBay.
-
Yep, I'm on the lookout for a Standard 24 Satin at the moment and they're like hens teeth..
