Sorry guys - meant to let you all know how it went - forgot to post an update today    And thanks for the kind words Derek  :)

All 8 tracks got recorded - sorted!  My epic extended solo, in a Free Bird stylee, got done in one take (after all my worrying!) as a planned overdub, as did the smaller solo before it.  All other solos were recorded in the live room with the rest of the band except for one of the lead singer's who was unhappy with one and he re-did it the next day.

Most tracks were done in one or two takes, and I think only one track took three takes.  We had to do a couple of little 'fixes' along the way for a bum bass note or bum chord, but that was it.  It was pretty painless!

I left last night as the singer was re-recording a couple of acoustic parts - we always planned to overdub them mic'd up rather than the DI recording we have from the live room.  He's then got to go back in to re-record his vocals as planned.

The album should be all mixed up (by the studio engineer) in the next week or so and I should get a copy of the complete 12 track album in about a fortnight.  I can't wait!

Unfortunately no BKPs were used.  It wasn't a concious plan to omit them, just that other guitars were either more suitable or had fresher strings etc.  That's the benefit of a large collection I guess, but a bit of a bummer for Tim and the boys.  I'll make sure some get on the next recording session  :D

I think we'll stick some of the new tracks up on our MySpace page when they're done so I'll let you all know in case you fancy a listen?
