Ok I got rid of the reverb and just adjusted the mix on Ez Drummer so that more of the "room" mic was in, I think it sounds a bit better :) Also changed the panning like you said.

I dont really want to take apart my LP as I hate fiddling about in it, soldering in the rear routed cavity bit is always a pain in the arse for me, much easier to work on a scratchplate!

edit - I was just playing around for a bit and got an awesome tone on position 4 (middle + rebel yell together - no coil splitting here!). Heres a clip of it at low volume, its how I wanted a bridge singlecoil to sound!

Is that by any chance similar to a tele bridge pickup? Its sort of how I imagine them to be like, tho I may be totally wrong?

Oh, and woogie reckons I should get a Holy Diver for my strat. Do you reckon this would still be too modern/high output for me?

Ah EZ Drummer - should have recognised it, an excellent piece of 'kit' :)

Unfortunately can't listen to clips at mo, but will do so as soon as possible, interested to hear difference.

Regarding the selector, I'm sure the more technically savvy guys will correct me if I'm mistaken but that is the bridge in parallel with the middle pickup but out of phase - you could wire the coils of the bridge pickup in parallel (or via switch) if you have 4 connector cable, which would give a more single coil like sound, then would be very flexible setup... No experience of HD, only the Crawler which I am very happy with - I have posted some clips up using it through my JCM800 if you wanted to hear it for an idea...

Yeah I have tried the splitting thing in the past and never liked it, it always sounds way too thin in position 4 for me.

I've heard your clips and they sounded good to me :) Apparently the Crawler is like a hotter, darker Mule (I think thats the description someone gave once), so I'd probably like it. Just wondering, what woods are your strats made from? Mine has a maple neck (rosewood board) and an ash body.

Hey Tom - sounding much better (ok I'm biased there!) another thing you could do is use the second rhythm track to add layers in later - start with just one rhythm and the lead, then bring in the second rhythm later giving the tune a nice kick along the way, and maybe change the drum pattern at the same time to add some interest... just some thoughts :)

Maybe for you having a micro switch for the bridge pickup that selects between serial, parallel and single coil could be the most versatile answer giving a lot of options from 1 pickup.

I believe that the Crawler is a hot but still 'PAF' style pickup (I specifically didn't want anything that accentuated the mids) . My Strat has a birds eye maple neck with rosewood board...but I cannot for the life of me remember what the body is - it's feckin' heavy and have a suspicion it may be swamp ash but not sure, sorry not much help there!

That clip was really just a really rough demo showing some of the sounds I can get with my strat, not really a proper track as such which is why the structure isnt amazing.

Still havent decided what I'm gonna do with my strat yet. I think the Crawler would probably work well. Just need to find someone to buy my RY!
