I just played my mate's Tremonti 2, and while it's very nice, I actually prefer his Custom 24. Can I change?

Hehe, don't see why not. After all, it's all about your ideal PRS, and if you've found a new 'ideal', change away!

I'm another one who'd go for the lovely Tremonti 2 trem model, but I have an aversion to signature gear so I would have to change the pickups for some BKPs (love the Nailbomb cold sweat combo on my SE) and flip the tross rod cover over. I'd probably put some black pickup surrounds on there as well. THAT would be my dream guitar ....... though the Dave Navarro model is a close second.

PS: Big PRS fans are going to hate me for saying this, but I'm not sure about the bird inlays, I think I prefer the "less bling" crescent moon ones instead. And is the wide thin neck that much better than the wide fat one? Regardless, PRS guitars are inspiring. They play so well whenever I try them and feel so good. If only we could get them for US prices .....

What finish is that Custom of yours above there, Chris? It's a stunner. Looks great with the zebra pickups.

Um, it's an Artist Pack so has the nice top + Paua birds, Vintage Sunburst colour, BRW pickup rings, and the pickups are Cold Sweats... zebra for extra RAWK!! Built in 2005, it's a 2003 custom order with a solid rosewood neck (regular carve). ~300 IRW neck Cus were built as part of this run and there aren't too many around in AP configuration.

Cost me far too much money to import earlier this year but it is quite nice! ;) The Vintage Burst is a really nice finish...
A-Pig 7s, Miracle Man & Mule, Cold Sweats... Expensive kit and no talent posse.

Just personal taste of course, but I far prefer the wide fat and regular profiles to the wide thin.  And I agree about the moons.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I have wide thin and wide fat necks on my PRSi.  Neither is "better" than the other for me, they just suit different guitars  :)

I have had one w/birds and one w/moons and now,for me, it feels like the neck is naked without the birds (old ones)...and i like the regular profile.

I've thought long and hard about this and I'd have to say my ideal PRS would be .........
a Gibson.  :)
PRS have everything I could want in a guitar, but something just doesn't compute in my brain when I see or play them

I agree. My Tremonti has the wide thin, my SC245 has the wide fat, and each is well suited to the instrument. The fatter neck give the SC245 a more classic feel, while the wide thin feels more modern.
