The Marshall JVM seems to be well received, if you are in need of many channels.
Its ALL PCB mounted though, whether thats of concern to you or not...

I can vouch for the Master Volume JMPs though, wonderful. Not tried it with different valves though

Agreed.  Although I can understand why someone who would not ever venture inside an amp might be nervous about buying a 20-30 yr old amp
