Pickup routing?

How easy is it to route a guitar for a humbucker or how expensive is it to get someone competent to do it for you?

Been looking at Tele's for a while but some of the ones I like dont have the routing in the neck position.

Just expanding the neck pickup rout from single to humbucker is a fairly straightforward job - the wiring hole is already drilled & you've got the smaller rout to use as a starting point.  As it's under a pickguard, there's no finishing work to be done.

Feline is a genius with a router - he routed a Floyd Recess for me (i.e. a much more detailed job) & IIRC it only took him an hour or two of labour...

Also, where would be a good place to source a black bakelite pick guard with a humbucker space?

I'm basically after a vintage looking tele. I love my american deluxe strat but the tele equiv is too modern looking.

Ive seen pic's of those Road worns and they look really good (to me anyway). You might think im mad but the blonde with a black guard, either a SM or Mule in neck and some hot vintage PUP in bridge @£900 all in.

Not seen one for a while, but I'm axesrus had some a while ago.  Chances are that whoever does your routing will be able to get one/make one easy enough (especially if you give them your old one as a template.  Depending on what you buy an off the shelf one might not fit anyway.
