both sound great - i went for heat, a bit more cut (or perhaps i am fooling myself, since the sound quite similar)

Never mind, I spoke to Bernhard (Steavens) the other day, and he said the UK weren't really his market. In fact he sold 2 amps to the UK in 20 years, which makes an average of 1 per decade. He is selling far more to the US, obviously DE and BeNeLux.

So it won't really hurt if you'd stick to your baby vox :O)
your clips made me interested in steavens, checked the website, but didnt found any prices?

This is to give an idea of the price range:

But I would suggest to contact Bernhard directly, maybe he can do something.

If you speak to him again, tell him that if I was about to go gigging and was in the market for an amp - he might well have ended up selling his UK quota for the next decade, based on your demo

The first one, but there's not exactly a huge diff!

The difference isn't huge but it's there. Beware that it's the same amp, same EQ, volume, Presence and boost settings, just differently voiced channels with different gain settings. Heat is definitely more compressed and has a slightly shifted mid range, as well as being more loose on the lower notes.

Big difference is when playing, as the two channels feel very different.

Heard the clips now.

I was quite surprised, after reading the earlier comments, that I could hear a difference!

I like both, but for that track I preferred Heat. It sounds more gritty and organic and cuts through the track better for me - I dunno, I felt like I could hear more emotion.

And having written that last phrase... I suddenly thought..."Big difference is when playing, as the two channels feel very different." - I was going to ask/comment about that anyway, but I'm suspecting you preferred playing Heat for this one??

Interesting though - I thought last week I preferred Meat in the demos, but I'd definitely pick Heat based on these two. :D

EDIT: Forgot this bit - Horsehead was barking up the right tree as well. For some passages Meat is better, some Heat. Of course, if you've got an amp with both, and big switch on the floor to jump between them... then you're a happy man!

I really liked them both, but prefer Heat by a tiny margin.

Great playing & production btw - well done.

Both good. I'd say which is better depends on who you are playing with and the venue.

I imagine Meat would be good in a power trio as it takes up more tonal range and Heat would be good in a bigger band perhaps with two guitarists or a keyboard player to cut through.

It's certainly good to have that subtle but useful flexibility.

Dude, I guess that about sums it up.

I was playing at fairly high volume tonight when the missus was out shopping. Darn I had a BFG* on my face!!!
