Wiring help needed
« on: September 25, 2010, 05:32:21 PM »
I'm replacing all the electrics on a guitar, and I'm a little confused. The wire that came with the parts is the cloth and wax wire here http://www.axesrus.com/axeElectronicsWire.htm
The wire on the original loom is dual core, and this is used to earth the output jack, as is shown in Mervyn Hisc--k's book. I can't work out how to do it with the single strand wire. Do I split the strand in two? Do I not need to earth it?? Feeling a bit lost.

Yeah, just use two separate wires, that'll be fine.

As you've seen, a lot of manufacturers use a piece of shielded wire to connect to the jack, using the inner insulated wire for the hot connection and the braided outer shield for ground.
