You may also want to consider the serie/parallel option instead of split - parellel coils give a lighter (and lower output), more single-coilish tone than the stock serie wiring while retaining the humbucking effect (for the record, the intermediate positions on a Tele or Strat are actually "2 coils parallel").
I've never tried splitting a BKP, but on all other 'buckers I tried the parallel option sounded way better than the split, regardless of the pup's output.
