OTHER PICKUPS FOR MY ESP SVII CAMO
« on: June 14, 2012, 04:00:05 PM »
HI Guys, I have this guitar loaded with 81/81 set, sounds good but I want a little more presence and bottom end, I am running tru a JCM 2203KK head, mesa cab WGS retro30s 4x12 and custom 2x12 WGS ET65 and VET30.

My style is more a mix of modern/melodic and technical death metal (COB, devildriver, in flames, soilwork), tuning Drop C and 10-50 DR strings. To me sounds good but I wonder if I install some other pickups can achieve better sound, I was thinking in passives and bareknuckles souns the way to go.

See my guitar specs: ESP SVII

not as much bottom end, but for cob tones in drop c, painkillers in my ESP SV hit the spot for sure!

To me, this sounds like a job for a Miracle Man set or at least a Miracle Man bridge and maybe something else in the neck.
BKP owned:

Bridge - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; A-Bomb; Holydiver; Miracle Man; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

Neck - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; Holydiver; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

Well guys you are helping me a lot :D , Miracle man and painkillers then, but what would be the difference between those pickups?, which one do some better cleans, which is more modern sounding? what would suit better for rhytm and chugga chugga? :P

output similar

miracle man more bass, lower mid, slightly smoother highs
PK more upper mid, cuts through better in a live mix, extremly articulate, note separation is incredible, whereas MM sounds a little smoother in the midrange

both do pinch harmonics well

both pretty aggressive pickups, especially when you use a boost

painkiller neck most modern sounding out of all of them, more single coilish, drier, extreeeeemely articulate for shreddy leads and unforgiving, mm neck more fuller sounding with more sustain, both similarly compressed

coil split for cleans mm neck sounds the best

for alexi's tone, definitely the painkiller

chugga chugga- both rule!

old mm clip i did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSxRi3GkyTg

:D Thanks man..so I think I will go for the PKs set, so the wait for those from UK to Brazil..loong wait!..Thanks a lot to every one, I probably buy another set for my les paul full thickness ESP LTD EC-1000 and have it shipped at the same time, great tone with the SD alnico proII but not enough for metal, and I want this territory. I will write another post 8)
