Pedalboard Materials?
« on: April 26, 2006, 05:01:24 PM »
Hey guys.

I know this has probably been covered before, but in your opinion what is the 'best' material to make a pedalboard from?

I was going to make a simple 12mm thick plywood board with a lid, but thought it was worth posting on here to see if anyone had any better suggestions?

There is no right and wrong. I made mine from a frame of cheap Homebase pine covered top and bottom with thin ply from the back of an old wardrobe, and then a ply lid which lifts off, because that's what I had lying around. Bear in mind 12mm plywood will be quite heavy.  The pine supports the ply very well and I permanently mounted the power supplies inside with a side panel for power in and guitar in and out.

If it helps, TGM (The Guitar and Bass Magazine) did an article a  month or two ago about building a pedal board, their website is http://www.ipcmedia.com/magazines/guitar
you may be able to get a reprint or back issue from them.
Just 'cos you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you

Thanx for the reply :)

I have a subscription to that magazine you mentioned, and have read that article many times :D

That's where I got the idea from for using 12mm Plywood :)

Thanx again for your reply.
