To be fair - I would go for the Stormy Mondays rather than the mules unless you actually want that "fuller" 1958 Les paul vibe.
The Stormy's are a little more open and transparent and can turn their hand to more styles of music than the mule simply because they do the cleaner stuff more faithfully whereas the Mule whilst still sounding fab is a little more full bodied.
The Stormy Mondays are based on an early 1960s wind - kind of where Gibson pulled back on the winding specs from what they had put in the late 50s LPs. these were also the pickus that were going into the early 335s etc.
Out of interest we did put some Cold Sweats in a chambered PRS type guitar that we built for JT and they turned out to be a bit too full on . JT swapped them out for some mules and has had a lot of fun ever since.
