Fulltone pedals powered from 18v
« on: October 16, 2006, 08:14:15 PM »
Hey guys.

I just wondered if anyone's ever tried to power their Fulltone pedals (Fulldrive II or Fat Boost more specifically) from an 18v supply, and if so, how does it change the tone?

It's something I'd consider doing myself if it's worth doing, but don't really wannt to 'waste' the money on a new power adaptor for the pedals if it doesn't make too much difference :)

Thanks.

Craig

Battery power is always better.

why not wire two 9volt batts together for a 'cheap' trial  :P

A lot of op-amp pedals indeed prefer 18V (or even 12V) as most op-amp based pedals are actually voltage starved.

Unfortunitely most users avoid pedals that require 2 batterys (check out the complaints in music mags, especially when it comes to active basses)

Rob...

Most transistor based fuzzes / distortion pedals tend to give their best sound when a zinc carbon battery is on it's last legs (hence theres actually flat battery emulation circuits around). How wierd is this pedal business going to get ?
