very nice!

the price of those slightly-more-upmarket se's seems to have come down recently... i remember a while back, £450 was considered a good deal.

Yeah, so do I - paid £440 for mine and thought I was the smartest cookie in the jar. Not feeling so smart now, 99_not_out has saved himself two thirds the price of a Bareknuckle!
Warpigs.

lol.
Luck rather than good judgement though :) Like I say, I was surprised myself!

Can't decide whether it really needs a BKP either given I'm basically a hobby player ... it has a lovely tone already and I would have to make sure I got the right BKP. Would be nice to coil tap it though, as long as the stock pups are 4 connector.

On that subject, does anyone know the spec for the stock pickups in the PRS SE Singlecut range? Seem fairly low output, might even be Alnico II, but I've never played a guitar with Alnico II before to know what I should be listening for other than a warmer sound.

haha, yeah. problem is, anything reasonably newish out is relatively expensive... wait a while and they come down... of course you have to decide if doing without something for 2 years is worth saving, say, £50...

I found them quite hot. Loved them in the beginning, but the longer I used them they just didn't cut it, too many mids and no good string separation. I mean they weren't bad, just the BKP factor was lacking. The guitar improved minimum 50% with a set of VHIIs.

They are quite middy. I guess my only experience with non-BKPs is with the stock Epiphone pups I've had in my various SGs, and they sucked - so the PRS ones sound great in comparrison to them. And my BKPs are Warpigs, so everything sounds low output to me at the moment

Looks like I'm back to the old "which BKP" quandry ... the only thing I know is that they need to be an open-poled Zebra set.

Waitng for Simon D's report on the Rebel Yells in a PRS too.
