I could see things going this way in our country back in the 90's. With each generation a higher proportion of them are feral scumbags.    I've always thought it will end in a case of having to fight fire with fire. Not sure exactly how that thought will pan out but if it's the will of a future government to fix it then it's going to get even worse first. Delightful eh!  :?

I've been pleasantly surprised that I've not had any trouble so far living in the dodgy end of Brum. Not once has anyone even been discourteous to me in the least. Beggars are the only people who've tried taking me money.

Firstly I'm really sorry to hear about this, and I know exatly how it feels, makes you feel hopeless and powerless. I have been very lucky regarding this recently, but I got mugged twice when I was only 10 and then again by the same scumbag when I was 12, via knife to the throat both times. It made me a much stronger person, lets put it that way! the trauma of these incident left me paralysed with fear, so much so that I barely talked for years and years, in fact music is the only thing that saved me through my teenage years!!! I did finally get over it, but it caused a chain reaction of fear, you really should read 'Feal The Fear and Do It Anyway' by Susan Jeffers, incredible book, especially in hard times.

Life can be incredibly difficult at times!

Very sorry to hear about that Steve.

My brother walked in on burglars in our house last month. He was held at knifepoint while the burglars took my laptop and games and cash. Even though they wear wearing balaclavas he could tell that one of them was black and the other white, both around 20. When I told my mate who has some chav friends about it he recognised the description and told me about a rumour that two guys that recently got out of prison was doing houses over around our area. He told me their names and which area they were from. I promptly called police but they decided to take no action. Basically told me they can't do anything about it. I lost faith in the police that night.

Oh and someone stole my bank details this week and spent about £500 with it. Thankfully the bank (Lloyds tsb) was sympathetic and told me they'd refund me. I never give out bank details to strangers and never type in the card number unless it's a secure server but it still happened. Be careful everyone!

sorry to hear ALL these stories. It makes me mad and sad at same time that it has come to this.

As for the Police. My Grandfather was Chief Super in Wales and did'nt stand ANY shitee. But nowadays with the advent of CCTV (yeah THAT stops violence dos'nt it! feckers!) and poor Police pay/recruiting and constraints, it seem's to be the Wild West (somewhat odd as I now reside in texas myself and it aint like that here). However, whilst my father was dying at home my mum was getting nuisance phonecalls from a kid left at home. When I dealt with it the Police were very helpful and caught the lil shitee and did the parents. I guess some has to do with local, as we live in deep countryside.

I myself have never been so unlucky (yet) but HAVE been in WAY the wrong place worse for wear. Wether it is luck or moving with a def. purpose I dunno. I am not gigantor at 6'1 and 195lbs so dunno.

Here in US, where many think crime runs riot, I have seen even less issues (it usually stays in it's hole, i.e. is not random, save those silly suicide feckers who insist on taking others with em). I have a concealed carry permit and have handguns but usually do not carry. I am a trained shot and take it VERY seriously, i.e. would not lose 1 sec of sleep if necessary, but simply do not feel the need to carry it alot.

Chavs are a modern phenom I guess as have only heard of them since being over here. When I was growing up it was always the local council estate loonies.

Anyway, please be vigilent out there and remember to take care and take heed of this 'it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6'
