I got mugged
« on: February 28, 2008, 08:13:30 PM »
I was walking home from seeing my girlfriend tuesday night and I got to my front door and some utter c*** mugged me.

He pulled my hair and put something to my throat and had to give my phone and wallet (but not my debit card luckily). Me and the rest of my family went running after him to catch him but we couldn't find him. If we did he would of been left for dead, especially seeing the look on my dad's face.

I've never been so angry before ever. I'm now trying to avoid walking back home in the evenings and I haven't even walked out of the house on my own since it happened.

Any one else experienced the same thing? what did you do to get on with it?

Sorry to hear that. I watched my mom get mugged by some crack head in Atlanta when I was about 10 years old. I guess that's just how it is these days. :(

Sorry to hear that mate, that's really shitee.

I was with a mate who got mugged once, by a gang of about 8 chavs. They just asked for the £60 in my mates wallet nicely- didn't need to threaten him with a knife or anything as the presence of all of them told us all we needed to know basically.

Another mate of mine got held up just like you described, in Camden, in daylight! Some geezer held a knife to his throat and pulled him into an alley where his mate was waiting. They took his phone and some cash. He was really shaken up by it, took him a while to get back to his old self. No tips for how to deal with it unfortunately- just got to put it behind you!

shite, sounds bad, I have lost my phone a couple of days ago, and I am pissed off enough about that. (would have thought that it being a rather selective school that there would be some decency, esp in 6th form block - dodgy new lot of lower lot)

Cousin got mugged in MK, sounds like a horrible experience. Do you get insurance and that from it?

Yeah my phone was insured. Got a new one (upgrade to a Sony K550i). Only had to pay £20 excess on the insurance so that's great. Old phone was blocked and the Sim was blocked.

He didn't get any cash so I hope he's pissed off about it. My phone was quite old and knackered looking any way so he couldn't of even sold it off really. So he got nothing, I got a new phone, two days off work and he's got a hell of alot of trouble looking for him. HA!

Sorry to hear about that. Must have been a horrible experience. Glad to hear though that there was maybe some silver lining to the cloud though

Closest I came was a guy who confronted me in a subway on my way home from work (not the take away), pushed me over. Luckily his mate pulled him off me or I'd have been in trouble. Scared the shite out of me. As for getting over it, you don't really, but you have to just carry on anyway, if you live in fear then the ***kers win.

its never happened to me.  it used to be because i have the advantage of looking a lot harder than i really am (only to people that dont know me, it wears off after i open my mouth)

.. now its because i know most of the people that are likely to do mugging around were i live.. probably taught most of them as well

what a tosser - I advocate the pink guantanamo suit and 10 yrs working for the chain gang for such like.  Apparently such punishment is in breach of human rights law.  Actually I think conscription should be a punishment for street crime.  Let the Taliban teach the scum a few lessons on the Helmand Province front line (if we send 17 year old squaddies there, how can it be in breach of useless crims human rights?)

Hey mate;

I got assaulted on a street one night. The next morning I went back and specifically walked over the same area. Get rid of the negative anchors. Reclaim that place from the bad memories. Worked for me, might help work for you. Go walk around the area in daytime, get comfortable there.

Well it wasn't a "to-the-throat" experience. But family did shopping whilst in Bristol or somewhere like that, in a hotel. Parked at the car park. Slept a night. Went back to the car.

Window smashed open, none of the stuff except my stuff were taken.

So I was fairly pissed off. I hope he dies whoever he is. Hotel security for the $%&#ing lame too.

Sorry to hear about this Steve - glad you escaped with only shaken nerves.
I assume you reported it to the police - did you get a look at the guy?

One of my friends deliberately carries two wallets - one with hardly anything in - maybe a fiver , a couple of used travelcards, a couple of old supermarket loyalty cards to look like credit cards and a random photo etc.
The other one has his real stuff in
that way if he gets mugged/asked for your wallet - he hands over the empty one.
