^Mesa do the Thiele
That is mean to sound large like a 4x12 atleast.

I have a Martamp 2x10 (diagonally) which has solid construction atleast, obviously there is going to be a sonic difference though

I love the look and idea of the Thiele, but it's mega money :(  Mesa kit is built like the proverbial brick outhouse though, which is good.

i've got a couple of thieles, they are really really good, but not sounding as large as a 4x12. i'm extremely happy with mine, and i think they're worth the money.
drop in an ev and you will be in 4x12 city!!my thieles with ev's are monsters and I will never lug around a 4x12 again-me happy

I suspect a Heritage Greenback is the way to go this time, though over on the Matamp forum, they also reckon a Hot100 works really well with the low powered stuff. Which is surprising given that they're a high power speaker.

The Hot 100 is really clear and neutral, which is why it's liked a lot.  Very underrated speaker, and I've tried a quite a few over the last couple of years!

£220 for my rear ported 1x12 with the "standard" Celestion range.

The Hot 100 sounds good at low volumes as well as cranked,  which is why I recommend it for most applications.

Sounds perfect. I'm wanting nothing fancy. Black, no need for piping or anything like that. The Hot100 seems a good place to start speaker-wise. Do you recomend open or closed back. Again, I'm looking at low volume, low power so it's unlikely to be cranked very often.

Martin's 'ported' cab is semi-open back.  It would be spot on  ;)

Yeah, mine have EVs in.. monsters indeed - but not like a EV 4x12 i think (at least the wylde-alike cab i tried)... but i have a sort of vertical stack of 2 and it sounds really really nice. top drawer stuff.
