I have a massive GAS for a Tele; I've gotta try one of those. I just finished setting up my friends (a beginner guitarist) LTD EC-50, one of the Eclipse models. I've gotta say, I'm impressed how good a guitar it is for it's price. Being a basswood (or agathis?) body, 24 fret maple+rosewood, and bolt-on, it's not exactly the LP tone. But it's got nice build quality; the neck is easy to play, and I like the comfort contours it has as opposed to a Gibson.
To truly judge it, I'd have to take it to gig level volumes; it might lack a little 'oomph' there perhaps. And the maple neck is not as stiff as on my electrics. But for bedroom (and living room :D) playing, it rocks straight away.
On the topic: the new ESP 'Explorer' model looks like it a too big ass.
