Need help figuring out correct wiring!
« on: October 05, 2014, 10:50:26 PM »
Wiring is always my downfall on new builds. Here what I am looking for;
P90 neck (single cond. and braid) volume and tone
Abraxas Bridge (4 cond.)volume and Push-Pull tone for split coil
3-way select switch

Having a hard time finding a wiring diagram, any help will greatly appreciated!

This is the build I am finishing.

This one should do for you.

Just ignore the neck switching part and convert the wire colours to BKP.

Also that is a very nice guitar. It's a shame you built it backwards.

Oh yeah also ignore the additional wires on the neck pickup as you will only have hot & ground on the p90.

Bridge humbucker and neck P90 is a great combination. We want to see more of these.

Beautiful guitar BTW.

Cheers Stephan

Thanks Gentlemen!

The neck P90 is from a 1954-56 Goldtop. I got two of them back in 1978-79 when this kid came into my friends music store and asked him to convert it to two humbuckers. He sold them to me for $30 dollars to use towards some DiMarzios he wanted to put in to it. I gave one to another friend about year after that for a tele conversion and kept this one just because.  It meters out at 8.1 . I had it in a tele conversion as well cause it sounded  so good. At the end of a gig many years ago a van ran over it before it was loaded up and trashed the guitar, but not the pickup. It has sat in my old parts bin for about 25 years so I figure it's about time to put it back into service. (You accumulate a lot of Sh*t over 47 years of playing). But I still suck at wiring, my arch foe!

Very nice
Do you intend to use left handed taper pots or are you used to having everything right handed?

You may have to jump through a few mental hoops to orientate that diagram to a lefty orientation.
(can you get long shaft left handed taper CTS ? or have you cleverly routed to allow standard length pots?)

Went with a S.D. Triple Shot PU ring for the split.  My Pots should be in this weekend to finish up this build.
