Also, I'm curious whether you might have tried a Suhr SSH (not the plus version) and could say how it compares to some Bare Knuckle pickups?  I've been thinking about installing one of those but haven't gotten around to it.

Of the Suhr pickups I have tried, I think the SSH was somewhere between the VHII and Blackdog, with a little more power.   The SSH has less low-mid range growl of the Blackdog, a little less upper harmonics of the VHII.   The SSH has almost a scooped mid sound, but then again, it may have been the guitar.  Was in a Suhr Swamp Ash, maple neck standard.   I’m planning on installing it in something else at some point.

Not super helpful, but that’s my take on it at this point

My Favorite BKP are the Holydiver Calibrated Set which are in my Charvel CS (with Trilogy Suite) I didn't get into the Blackdog pickup as much next to the HD.
Each of these guitars have Bare Knuckle Pickups, awesome sounding......

A hotter Black Dog bridge - definitely True Grit bridge.
