You can't cryo humbuckers, only single coils - I've asked!

thas a bit odd

I know.  I think he said it does something to the (plastic) bobbins/spacers in humbuckers.

theoretically cryo treating the wire of a pickup might change the tone by lowering the electrical resistance in the wire  - so there might be something in it, however, this claim of 18% improvement - is that a science thing or and advertising thing?

You can prove anything with statistics.

(14% of people know that)

67% of all statistics aren't true

But around 80% of people admit to making up statistics when they can't remember the actual figure :drink:

Well, if it changes the sound of my BKPs then I don't want it. If Tim would wind pickups knowing the change caused by the cryo treatment and anticipating it, that might be different.
I do like Blue Steels on my EVH, but not on the Les Paul.

I have two cryo valves, a KT77 and a 6L6, and I like the 6L6 but not the KT77.

So I think it's like always: things need to make sense together. You can't have DM Blue Steels, and George L cables and cryo pickups and cryo valves, that just becomes too much treble and too fast, too.

If you have a muddy guitar though, then maybe cryo'ed pickups are just the right thing to fix it...

What I don't get is that Callahan seem to cryo the pickup after it is made - is this correct - surely for the science bit to work Lindy Fralin (is that a man or a woman?) would have to cryo treat the pickup wire before winding it??  Surely that is the only logical way to make a cryo treated pickup that claims to do the thing it does, not to drop the pickup into nitrogen bobbin and all?

What happens with cryotreated valves - surely the nitrogen breaks the glass - so how do you treat NOS valves?

Confused  :D

I'm going to have myself cryogenically treated. If all the molecules in my arms are lined up in the same direction, I'll be able to play faster.

They get brought down to temperature very slowly (over about 12 hours), and the gradual change doesn't seem to break the glass :drink:
