The Neumann U87 and Neuman TML103 mics are perfect for acustic guitar, they're that good that when I heard it for the first time I literally felt like I was there in the room with the guitarist. If you ever want to go proffesional, get the Neumann TML103 or the Rode NT5, both phenominal mics, my favourites for acoustic guitars. Problem is the cost!

yep, the difference decent condensers make for acoustic guitars (and drum overheads) cannot be understated.  I have a matched pair of Groove Tube GT-55s which are just phenominal.

I'm one of those people who don't particuarly like them for mic'ing guitar cabs - SM57s are much better imo and cheap enough that its a no-brainer whether or not to buy one.
