Installing Nailbombs into a LP
« on: June 24, 2010, 10:52:19 AM »
Hi There!
This is my first post, so be gentle etc.

Been looking at a set of Nailbombs for sometime now, finally took the plunge and bought a set. They should be here tomorrow, and I'm just wondering, is there a wiring diagram knocking about the web somewhere, or any instructions included in the box?
Also, I've read about being able to coil tap them, is that completely necessary, and do i need to buy anything extra to wire the coil tap in?

Apologies if these seem like silly questions. I've only ever installed EMG's before, and I screwed that up lol.
Thanks for any replies in advance

A wiring diagram is included with the pickups (plus a set of strings and pick) and is normally a simple replacing like for like. Coil "splitting" is only possible if you ordered the 4 conductor option and you will need a push/pull tone control to allow you to ground one of the coils in each pickup - wiring diagrams are readily available. (Coil tapping is where you disconnect some of the wind on a single coil -  coil splitting is where you switch out one of the two coils of a humbucker pickup)

ah wicked thanks :)
I wasn't aware of the difference between tapping and splitting. Cheers for explaining it!
