Anyone know of a good Guitar Tech in Glasgow / Lanarkshire?

Hi Y'All,

Can anyone recommend a good luthier in the Glasgow area?
After a recent pup & string guage change my SG just isn't playing as it used to.
More fool me for not writing down my settings...

Couple of places-

Jimmy Egypt's- below sound control, excellent tech shop but pricey- £50 for a complete set up. City Centre and West End.

The usual shops do them too- Merchant City and Guitar Guitar, pricing is around £25-£35 + strings, but be warned- Merchant City made an arse of setting up my Strat- never even re-strung it properly. Done a decent job on my tele though.

Also heard good things about Strung Out guitars, kinda behind the Tron-gate. Again no experience with them but come highly reccomended.

I'd go for Jimmy Egypt, fast turnaround and they really set EVERYTHING up, nut and electrics too.

They are awesome, really helpful. Touch expensive when buying stuff though, CTS pots are £5 each- £3.80 from WD online. Where in Lanarkshire are you from?

The delightful town of Wishaw! (also known as Pishy Wishy)
Great place for a bottle of buckfast & a fight if you're so inclined.

Small world, I'm from Wishaw too, moved out to Glasgow last year.

Try Magnum Sound also, good work but takes ages as it's an external tech. Bill and Ted know their stuff though, my dad and I have been using them for years and years.

I would say that speed is not an issue, the longer it takes, the more refined the process can be, and therefore plays better.

when I had only one guitar, I asked for a quick turnaround, but had to take it back after 4 days to have it tweaked as the wood hadn't settled

True dat, but Magnum take around 2 weeks, and that seems like AGES.
