Cold Sweat neck: Ceramic vs Alnico
« on: October 23, 2007, 05:28:58 PM »
I'd like to know what are the differences between those two. I'm not much of a ceramic fan, and I wasn't quite happy when Tim posted me a CS clip, so I went for the Mule neck (which is great btw).

Now I'm thinking, maybe I even would like the CS in alnico version, but I would like to know the difference, and possibly hear it

Oh yeah, you can also compare alnico CS neck with the Mule neck, so I would get a better picture.

Thanks
I wish women were like pickups - if they lack output, you sell them... or ask Tim to rewind them :D

The Cold Sweat neck is Alnico 5, it's only the bridge that's Ceramic.

So that's the difference: One is 14k Ceramic, wound for use in the bridge & the other is 8.2k Alnico 5, wound for use in the neck.

Haven't got any Mules so I can't comment on the difference between it & the CS....

If I remember correctly the clip I mailed you was a Chris Broderick neck clip which is Cold Sweat Alnico V not a ceramic clip. The only ceramic neck we make is the Painkiller neck.

Yes that was the one. I thought CS neck is ceramic as well as CS bridge, so I thought this was the issue. Thanks!

BTW now i remember! Someone from this forum told me once that Chris Broderick uses a ceramic Cold Sweat neck, and that Jeff Loomis uses alnico version! Thats what got me confused!

This was the clip we discussed:
