Boss RC-50 Loop Station - Very very fun...

Okay, after 3 months of decision making, reading reviews, and then bottling out of spending the money, I splashed out on a RC-50 looper. Everywhere I looked prices ranged from £450 to £330. In the end picked it up of Thomann for only £260 including delivery and a nifty carry case as well!

It is very verry good, and so fun to play around with. Have just been messing around either building up soundscapes, or discovering songs with 2 guitar parts, playing one, then playing the other part over the top. Also playing the vocal melody line over the top of the rhythm guitar is kinda cool as well.

Anyone who hasn't looked into this things, they are so fun to practise with, I would recommend every guitarist to get some sort of looper (even if its just the RC-2).

I have an RC-20, which I use as a sampler. It is a VERY clever, versatile device. Roland definitely knows what it's doing when it comes to effects and the like!

I have a RC-2 and its a great toy, use it all the time. In fact playing would be boring without one...

yeah i'm interested in it. i'm pretty sure even the rc-2 has some drum tracks, so you can make your own little band. its cool that it records a real long time so you could really play rhythm of an entire song, and then go back and play lead, besides just recording some riffs to improv on. sounds like a lot of fun to me.

Yes it has 20 or so built in drum patterns and a nice metronome with tap tempo.

Pick you drum track set the tempo... hit the pedal and record your riff...then the looper plays it for two hours or so whilst you noodle over it, harmonise etc etc... you can also over dub your original riff create endless dubs etc its very good fun. There are 11 memory banks to save your riffs on and some preset backing tracks....two blues type backing tracks and a wierd funk thing...

You can also record a one shot loop, i.e. an intro and play with that within your track.

Its worth the money as its a lot of fun and helps you practice.

I run mine either in the FX Loop or straight into the amp (when you run it straight into the amp you might notice the pedal adds a tiny bit of boost and grit to your singnal which I like a lot). Its not overly noisy either and in the FX loop mine is quiet.

does the RC-2 have a usb port or anything to maybe put your recorded riffs onto the computer? i don't have a way to record right now, and i'm deciding between a multi-tracker or a looper.
