I love the sound of both pickups, but as it happens, I love the sound of the Rebel yell in Neck position, and Nailbomb in Bridge.

Now what would these sound like together in an Ibanez?
Would it work?

i think rebell yell neck = cold sweat neck, but you'll pay more for the steve stevens signature

I haven't got either pickup (or an Ibanez), so I have no idea how they'd actually sound, but output-wise they should be well matched.

The Nailbomb seems to be the pickup of choice for superstrat guitars, especially basswood ones. And the RY neck is similar to the Cold Sweat neck, which is very popular with shredders (I don't think they're identical - I think I read that the RY neck is a hybrid of the CS and VHII neck models, but I'm not 100% sure *).

I don't think you'd go far wrong with that combo - but it depends what sort of tones you're after.

alright nice 1 fella's.

As for tone, I'm after a fairly bright tone with a bit of punch to it. Hence the RY and the Nailbomb lol. I think I'll take the chance and get them, if it doesnt suit, they are both cracking pickups on their own so I'll put 'em in one of my other axes.

I dont know if you guys can help with the setup of pickup I need, whether it be 50 or 53mm spacing and what type of 'leg' i need to get. But no worries if you aint sure, kos i sure as hell dont know, il ring up tomorrow.

For a guitar with a Floyd, definitely 53mm for the bridge pickup (all neck pickups are 50mm).

And short legs are better for that type of guitar, unless the pickups sit really high above the scratchplate (I'd guess they don't).

I'd stick with black uncovered pickups, but then I'm a boring old traditionalist. :)

More than likely you need a 53mm spaced bridge (all neck pickups are 50mm, it's only the bridge models available in 50 or 53) - but to be sure, measure the distance between your top & bottom strings over the bridge pickup pole pieces. Choose the spacing that's going to cover it best.

Unless the pickup sits very proud of the body, short legs are a safe bet.

If it was me, I'd stick with the open poled black look for that guitar. Boring perhaps, but it's all in the eye of the beholder...

i'm sawi, but i gotta say that a nailbomb style camo cover would look AWESOME in that guitar (i mean kinda shinyish multiple shades of green camo effect, not one that actually looks like camo. go to the gallery section and check out the nailbomb section, the second one down is the kind i mean!) and also along with a camo style single-coil cover (they also do those, again, check out the gallery)

but hey, at the end of the day we can't make the desisions for you, snoop around some pics and pick the one you think would kick more ass in that guitar!

well, I can say that the nailbomb isnt really a 'bright' pickup. the air norton I have is brighter. the nailbomb is GREAT for NWOBHM, but I think the painkiller and cold sweat are 'brighter' or at least; have more grit and crunch, and better harmonics, and have a tighter feel overall, which, I think, is absolutely neccasary for NWOBHM, especially if you like to play stuff that is heavier. I am aiming at the cold sweat-set for one of my les pauls, as wel as the painkiller (both for customs), and I hope that they will have an open, airy, character when played clean, but get more and more tight and compressed the more gain you use.

That is something i already feel with the nailbomb and emerald (the emerald realy wasnt my thing; great for old school rock, but not the thing I needed in a les paul), and also with the MQ. the ceramic magnet of the PK and the CS will build upon that thing even ferther, i think....

Tim originally said the cold sweat and rebel yell neck pickups were identical, then later contradicted himself by saying it wasn't.. dunno if he changed the spec or was trying to pull the wool over our eyes.. eitherway it's similar sounding.

I have a reb in a LP standard and a cs in a LP Custom-the reb seems a little tighter/cs seems a little more rounded and bassy-both beautiful clean tones-a little more ass to the cs , a little more articulation to the reb, IMO
