4 to 2 conductor
« on: October 31, 2007, 11:18:33 PM »
So, turns out I'm buying wintersun's Mule.

It happens to be 4-conductor though. Is there a way to wire this the same as with braided 2?

Thanks.

solder the green and white wires together and tape them off.  You are left with red, black and a bare wire.  red is the hot wire black and bare go to ground

Hot is the one that either goes to the switch or the tag of the volume pot.  Ground is the one that goes to the back of one of the pots

Ahh, ok got it. Thanks.

It's a semihollow with normal Les Paul style switching/wiring. It's gonna be a mess to do the wiring work through the f-holes(or bridge pickup hole), but it seems possible.

right - the hot (red) wire goes straight to the 1st tag on the volume pot and the ground (black and bare) goes to the back of that volume pot.

les paul style wiring has individual volumes for each pickup so the pickup has to go to the volume pot first rather than straight to the switch

assuming there is no backplate dont undo any of the parts till you have something tied around each pot.  Fishing line or thread will work but surgical tubing pushed over the post of each pot works so much better because it wont tangle.

surgical tubing is now sold by guitar parts suppliers because it makes a great alternative to pickup springs.

Its also a good idea to take an old dead lead and remove the jack plug.  This can then be attached to something like an old metal coat hanger and used to remove the jack socket. Not so much a problem on yours but on es335's it makes reattaching the jack socket a hell of a lot easier because you can guide it better and have something firmer to help put the nut on

I think I saw that post a little too late haha. No damage done though. I found that I could get the pots out through the f-hole (the pots are very small), and I figured out which line goes to what. But it was hell getting them back in. Thanks for the tip with tying something on the post, I'll remember that next time

Is this right?

You mean wrap some tape around the soldering point?
