What is the point of having a FR if you're going to screw a plate over it to essentially disable it.
It's not even like it's a particularly complex to set up; you just need to be patient. Once it has settled you shouldn't need to drastically retune it until you change the strings the next time round.
I too use chicken as a measurement.

I agree with you there but it could be because he/she wants super low action but never uses a locking trem or very rarely
