another new guy who needs advice on his pickups please...

basically im building a guitar out of acrylic and want to put some bare knuckle pickups in because ive been told theyre pretty good.
I play a huge variety of stuff, all different types of rock, metal, punk etc, but mainly classic rock stuff like guns n roses, hendrix, santana, led zeppelin.... and more modern indie stuff like muse.
any advice?
thanks

bob

come on people, 66 views and no replys?
am i being too vague on style of music?
i'd say the classic rock sound is what im looking for most, but i'd still like that bit of versitlity...
from the sound demos, the mule and holydiver doesn't sound far off what im looking for, is this the right kinda thing?
thanks
Bob

Hi bob,

First, no need to get belligerent. Goading people will not illicit a friendly response.  :orcass: :censored:

Searching my mind and I cannot for the life of me remember, but there was a guitar builder at LGS last year that made acrylic guitars and used a wide variety of BKs.

Does anyone else remember this guitar company?? Super thin guitars that look like kitchen countertops?

I'm sure that Tim will know who I'm referring to.

I would suggest the HD over the Mule if you like an early 80s voiced midrange in your pickup. Otherwise, your other contender, the Mule, will also work a treat.

Simon lee - i was speaking to him for a while at music live last year

http://www.simonleeguitars.com/

his guitars are a hardwood core with a front and back of recycled plastic.  Solid acrylic is going to be a bit of a different story and i dont think there will be many people around here with experience of putting BKP's in an acrylic guitar - so maybe give Tim a call and ask him.

the reviews of the Dan armstrong plexi guitar focus on its powerfull midrange and highs.  No body describes it as being a bassy guitar - so my gut instinct would say something quite bassy, or at least avoid stuff with lots of highs - maybe a VHII, probably not a rebel yell or nailbomb :?   Thats just speculation though as i have no actual experience with acrylic guitars.
